Description

Day 1: Alicante
Individual arrival in Alicante. After settling your luggage, go out to discover Alicante: a city open to the sea with a quiet promenade in the winter but incredibly lively in the spring and summer with its many chiringuitos (beach bars). Don't miss the historic center, El Barrio, which is crisscrossed by narrow streets and bustling with charming bars and cafes. From here, you can climb to the famous and spectacular Santa Barbara Castle, which overlooks the promenade. In Alicante, there is an unusual custom called el Tardeo, where people meet near the central market in the afternoon just to socialize in pubs and bars. Here you can immerse yourself in this lively atmosphere among the people.

Day 2: Alicante – Altea / Calp (35 km; +170 m)
Today, you will cycle near Alicante's beach, following the promenade to reach Playa de San Juan and El Campello, where you will have the opportunity to visit the archaeological site of L’illeta dels Banys, one of the most important in the Mediterranean region. You will pass Benidorm, which was once a small fishing village. Continuing, you can admire the magnificent views of Puig Campana, an imposing mountain, until you reach Altea. This city, famous for its artists, still has its historic promenade and very charming historic center, which is impossible not to visit.

Day 3: Altea / Calp/Benissa – Xàbia (20 km; +120 m or 35 km; +420 m)
Today, you will cycle through a contrasting landscape of coast, fields, and inland mountains. The views of Alicante's coast and the imposing mountains will be your backdrop along the way. Then, cycling through vineyards and traditional Riu Raus, typical buildings with rows of arches where locals used to dry grapes indoors to produce sultanas and raisins, you will arrive in the historic city of Xàbia, which boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Alicante.

Day 4: Xàbia – Denia (25 km; +170 m)
You will cycle along Montgó mountain until you reach Denia. Along the way, you will once again encounter Riu Raus; these buildings were once central to the grape drying activity, now turned into outdoor markets. Subsequently, you will reach Denia, a city with a thousand dream beaches that you can enjoy even in winter on sunny days. Denia was designated a UNESCO Creative City in 2015 for the quality and variety of its excellent local dishes.

Day 5: Denia – Gandia (40 km; +160 m)
You will leave Denia to encounter small remnants of marshes known as marjals, a chosen nesting spot for many bird species and a paradise for birdwatching enthusiasts. You will cycle parts of the old railway line built by the English in the 19th century, and after a few kilometers, you will reach the beautiful coastal city of Gandia, with its interesting historic district and the Ducal Palace.

Day 6: Gandia – Cullera (29 km; +90 m or 46 km; +120 m)
You will start the day cycling on quiet roads and paths weaving through the orange groves, venturing into a charming little valley and following part of the pilgrimage route that connected several monasteries, along which you will encounter the imposing monastery of Simat de la Valldigna. Cycling through the rice fields, you will arrive in Cullera, a coastal city with splendid sea views where you can enjoy some of the area's rice specialties.

Day 7: Cullera – Valencia (42 km; +80 m or 52 km; +95 m)
Choosing the longer option, you will start the day cycling along the banks of the Xúquer River, whose waters irrigate the many lush fields and woods of the entire area. You will venture into the nature reserve known as the Albufera Natural Park, one of the most precious ecosystems of the Mediterranean: here, you can admire different natural environments such as lakes, marshes, sand dunes, and pine forests that line the promenade, each with its own flora and fauna. It's worth tasting one of the typical dishes of this very special area. You can then take a walk near the port and watch the fishermen at work before heading back home in the picturesque El Palmar. Once you reach Valencia, you will explore the formidable historic center, with its cathedral and the magnificent central market. Don't miss the alleys and squares full of cafes, bars, and restaurants: food lovers will definitely be satisfied! The city is also famous for its nightlife.

Day 8: Valencia
After a good breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
