Description

Day 1: Passau
Individual arrival in Passau, known as the city of the 3 rivers, where the Danube, Inn and Ilz intersect. After settling into your hotel, you'll receive your bikes (if rented) and then have free time to explore the city.

Day 2: Passau - Schlögener Schlinge (40 km)
Your journey starts in Passau, from where you'll follow the magnificent Upper Danube Valley route leading you to the surprising Schlögener Schlinge. If you have time, we recommend visiting the famous Engelhartszell Trappist monastery. Your adventure continues towards the Schlögen bend, the famous loop of the Danube, where the rock forced the river to reverse its direction by 180°. Finally, on the ferry that will take you to your hotel on the other side of the river, you will find yourself surrounded by breathtaking scenery, a natural picture of incomparable beauty, that will leave a lasting impression as a moment of pure enchantment.

Day 3: Schlögener Schlinge - Linz (55 km)
Today, you'll leave behind the hilly, lush forests and immerse yourself in the verdant Eferdinger basin region. This landscape is characterized by its gently rolling farmlands, harmoniously alternating with picturesque villages. Your day ends in Linz, the lively capital of Upper Austria. The historic heart of the city welcomes you with a mosaic of historical monuments, imposing churches, museums rich with culture and elegant buildings.

Day 4: Linz - Grein (60 km)
Today's stage will take you on a small detour, off the Danube bike trail to reach Enns, the oldest city in Austria, whose famous 60-meter high tower awaits you in the ancient square. You will then resume your journey along the Danube, heading towards the picturesque Grein. This Baroque city will welcome you with its charming main square, adorned with historic houses with little towers and the elegant Rococo Theater, an architectural gem in wood, carefully preserved within the town hall.

Day 5: Grein - Melk (50 km)
After breakfast, start your bike ride through the impressive landscapes of Strudengau and Nibelungengau, following a section of the Danube characterized by a narrow valley framed by towering rock walls up to 400 meters high. Above you, the ruins of Struden Castle from a rich and mysterious past dominate the scene. Continuing on, your journey will take you to the enchanting Wachau Valley, famous for its terraced vineyards harmoniously blending into the slopes, and the picturesque villages. The route culminates in Melk, a memorable stop marked by the presence of the majestic Benedictine abbey. This masterpiece of Austrian Baroque art towers high on a rocky spur overlooking the Danube.

Day 6: Melk - Krems (40 km)
Today's stage will take you through a series of picturesque villages, each with its own charm. Start with Weißenkirchen, then move on to Spitz where we suggest taking a leisurely walk to discover its hidden corners and welcoming atmosphere. After Spitz, the adventure continues to Dürnstein, famous for its fascinating ruins and historic castle. The day ends in Krems, a city that enchants not only with its architectural beauty but also with its renowned vinicultural tradition. Here, you'll have the opportunity to relax in traditional taverns, enjoying local specialties and tasting fine wines, the result of the land and passionate work of winemakers.

Day 7: Krems - Vienna (45 km) | train
You'll cycle one of the most famous stretches of the Danube cycle path, which will lead you to the splendid Tulln, known as the "city of flowers". Here, between late March and late October, you'll have the chance to explore Die Garten Tulln, a garden show renowned for its beauty and variety. This experience will immerse you in a world of color and scent, where nature expresses itself in all its nuances. After Tulln, a train will take you directly to Vienna, the Austrian capital which embodies imperial elegance, cultural richness, and a love for music. Here, you'll be spoiled for choice: from the grand royal palace to the majestic cathedral, from art museums rich with treasures to historic residences, through lush gardens and prestigious theaters.

Day 8: Vienna - Passau
After breakfast, transfer by train to Passau (bikes not included) and end of services. However, from April 27 to September 20, you can choose to travel either by train or bus. If you opt for the bus, bikes are included.
