Description

Day 1: Muggia
Individual arrival in Muggia and hotel accommodation. Relax by visiting the historic center and enjoying a delicious ice cream. If you arrive in time, we recommend taking the bus or boat to nearby Trieste (about 30min). You will have the opportunity to visit the seafront and the wonderful Miramare Castle. Don't miss a walk in the charming Piazza Unità d'Italia in the city center and a stop to sip a good espresso in the city of coffee! In the evening return to the hotel in Muggia.

Day 2: Muggia – Piran (35 km; +230/-240 m)
Today you will cross the border into Slovenia; cycling along the coastal bike path you will encounter Koper, another beautiful port city, and subsequently the picturesque Venetian villages of Izola and Piran. It will be very pleasant to stroll through the narrow streets and visit their churches. In Piran, you can have a coffee in Tartini Square, surrounded by splendid Venetian architecture, while in Portorož, a wealthy spa town on the Slovenian Riviera, you can try your luck in one of the casinos.

Day 3: Piran – Umag (38 km; +/-250 m)
Today you will cycle past the vast salt flats of Sečovlje: we recommend arriving early enough to admire the landscape with the morning light and enjoy the splendid shades of color. From here you will cross the Croatian border and reach the heart of Istria; cycling along slightly hilly terrain, you will reach the village of Umag. Umag was a Roman colony, and entering through the drawbridge within its walls reveals a city rich in history. Highly recommended is a visit to the medieval center and the beautiful town tower.

Day 4: Umag – Poreč (43 km; +/-340 m)
Once again you will cycle through some low hills towards Novigrad (Cittanova), another medieval city. In addition to its rich history, Novigrad is also famous for its gastronomy and is known as one of the best gourmet destinations in Istria. The next stop is Poreč/Parenzo where you can visit the Euphrasian Basilica, a mix of Baroque, Gothic, and Romanesque buildings, a UNESCO heritage site.

Day 5: Poreč (48 km; +/-400 m)
For this day you will be spoiled for choice! You can take a boat or hike to the Lim Channel, also known as the Limski Fjord: it is a natural reserve of the National Park along whose coast there are several mussel and oyster farms. Simply enjoy a day at the sea or visit the surrounding countryside of Poreč.

Day 6: Poreč – Rovinj (45 km: +400/-390 m)
Today's stage will take you straight to the gem of Istria, Rovinj, one of the last true fishing ports in the Mediterranean. The high bell tower of St. Euphemia's Church, built at the highest point of Rovinj, is its most prominent feature: standing proudly dominating the view, no matter which direction you come from. It is also possible to cycle to Zlatni Rt (also known as Golden Cape), a peninsula where a natural reserve is located.

Day 7: Rovinj – Pula (43 km; +270/-280 m)
The last stage takes you to Pula, on the southwestern tip of the peninsula. From here you can visit the Brijuni Islands, 14 islands thrown into the Mediterranean forming a paradise-looking natural park! One of the two major islands, Veli Brijun, was used by Tito as a summer residence. You can also follow in the footsteps of the dinosaurs: over 200 footprints have been found on the island. Pula is the oldest city in Istria and is its commercial and cultural center. Enjoy your last day of the tour among the antiquities including the imposing Arena of Pula, the only remaining Roman amphitheater to have four side towers with all three Roman architectural orders fully preserved.

Day 8: Pula
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
