Description

Day 1: Piazza Armerina
Individual arrival in Piazza Armenia, a charming historic town nestled in the heart of Sicily. After settling your luggage, you will have the opportunity to stroll through its beautiful winding streets, but also to see some of the wonderful buildings including the 13th-century Cathedral that dominates the city, rising on top of a hill, the town hall and the ancient Trigona Palace.

Day 2: Piazza Armerina - Caltagirone (35 km; +/-635 m)
After having breakfast, collecting the bicycles along with a road map and the route description, the tour begins! After crossing the village of Mirabella Imbaccari, you reach the destination of the day, Caltagirone, one of the Baroque cities of the Val di Noto, famous as the city of ceramics. Its strength point, without a doubt, is the staircase of Santa Maria del Monte, which consists of 142 steps that connect the lower part of the city with the ancient upper part. Each step is decorated with ceramic tiles, forming a vibrant contrast with the grey lava stone of the horizontal surfaces.

Day 3: Caltagirone – Palazzolo Acreide (70 km; +/-1200 m)
From Caltagirone you will ride through a panoramic route in the heart of the Iblei Mountains, passing through some charming villages like Vizzini and Buccheri, before arriving at Palazzolo Acreide, named by the Greeks as Akrai, where you'll have the opportunity to cycle through past ages. This city of great cultural interest owes its fame to the nearby archaeological sites, but it’s primarily due to its many fascinating Baroque buildings that it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2002.

Day 4: Palazzolo Acreide - Ragusa Ibla (37 km; +/-600 m)
Today you will ride along the Iblean Plateau, characterized by dry stone walls dividing lands. Today's destination is Ragusa, an area typically renowned for its wines and cheeses. Ragusa was destroyed in 1693 and rebuilt in dramatic Sicilian Baroque style. The city is divided into three parts: modern Ragusa, older Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla. Ragusa has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites for representing the peak and flowering of Baroque Europe.

Day 5: Ragusa Ibla – Ispica (59 km;  +/-660 m)
Cycling your way to Ispica, there are many towns you will get to see. First and foremost, the charming Baroque city of Modica, located in the picturesque landscape of the Iblei Mountains and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, most famous for its delicious chocolate. Back on the bike, you'll continue your journey towards Scicli where you can visit the beautiful Church of San Bartolomeo. Lastly, you’ll arrive at Ispica, known above all for the Cava d'Ispica, a long geological fault dotted with cave dwellings. In this town, you'll cycle among elegant churches like Santa Maria Maggiore, squares, and lovely buildings that will lead you to the red Bay market.

Day 6: Ispica – Noto (55 km; +/- 545 m)
Today's itinerary takes you on an exceptional route before reaching Noto. Starting from Ispica, you will ride to Marzamemi, one of the most beautiful fishing villages in Sicily. In this place, where time seems to have stopped, you can admire the small and characteristic fishermen’s houses lining the main square. The trip then continues into the Vendicari Nature Reserve, presenting a unique terrain: a swamp, sand dunes, rocky coasts, and sandy beaches mix. The land's high salinity offers the perfect habitat for Mediterranean scrub, aromatic herbs like thyme or rosemary, and hosts various animal species. After seeing this spectacle of nature, you will arrive in Noto, known as the "Stone Garden," perched on a plateau overlooking the Asinaro Valley. It stands out for being covered with citrus, olive, and almond trees. In this enchanting town, you can admire palaces, churches and cherubs decorating the balconies with wrought iron railings.

Day 7: Noto – Syracuse (37 km;  +/-215 m)
The final stage of the tour brings you to Syracuse, a city among the most noble and elegant in the entire Mediterranean. Rich in charm, history, and natural landscape, it was envied and enviable; in 2005, it became part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The city is divided into two parts: the urban part and Ortigia, the magnificent island of the city.

Day 8: Syracuse
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
