Description

Day 1: Castelnuovo Cilento
Welcome to the wonderful Cilento, the cradle of the Mediterranean Diet and philosophy! You will arrive individually in Castelnuovo Cilento and check into the charming B&B Info Point. Make sure you are ready for the welcome briefing at 7:00 PM, followed by a delicious aperitif dinner. Overnight stay at the B&B is assured.

Day 2: Castelnuovo Cilento - Stella Cilento - Celso - Pollica - Acciaroli - Castelnuovo Cilento (43 km; +/- 710 m)
Are you ready to follow in the footsteps of the Mediterranean Diet? After a rich breakfast, you will head towards Stella Cilento. You will climb the slopes of Mount Stella, surrounded by green woods and olive terraces. You will pass through picturesque villages like Galdo with its Church of San Nicola, and admire the baronial palace Mazziotti in Celso. Arriving in Pollica, you will discover the secrets of the Mediterranean Diet, a UNESCO World Heritage, thanks to the work of Ancel and Margaret Keys. You will pedal along a scenic road between sea and mountain, in an area famous for its numerous Slow Food Presidia: white figs, salella olives, Cilento goat cacioricotta, and menaica anchovies. On your way back, a stop in Acciaroli, with its Norman tower and picturesque alleys, will make the journey even more unforgettable. In the evening, you will conclude with a typical Cilento dinner.

Day 3: Castelnuovo Cilento - Piano Vetrale - Gioi - Vallo della Lucania - Castelnuovo Cilento (56 km; +/- 1110 m)
Today, you will pedal along the quiet secondary roads of the Via Silente cycle route, ascending the slopes of the Serra Amignosa, the source of the Alento River. Surrounded by olive trees, figs, and vineyards, you will reach Piano Vetrale, where murals depicting rural life scenes animate the narrow alleys of the village. The journey continues towards Gioi, an ancient pre-Italic village where you will taste a delicious soppressata. Continuing along a scenic road, you will pass through Moio della Civitella and Vallo della Lucania. The final descent will bring you back to Castelnuovo Cilento, where you can admire the imposing manor before returning to the starting point. Typical dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Castelnuovo Cilento - Ceraso - Mandia - Rodio - Pisciotta - Ascea - Castelnuovo Cilento (54 km; +/- 950 m)
Get ready to breathe in the scents and colors of the Mediterranean scrub as you pedal towards the slopes of Mount Gelbison. You will pass through Ceraso, with its charming historic center and the Church of San Nicola di Bari. Continuing the climb through oak and chestnut woods, you will pass through Mandia until you reach Rodio, overlooking a green valley. The descent towards Pisciotta will offer you a breathtaking view of ancient olive trees. A short detour will take you into the heart of the medieval village of Pisciotta, where you can enjoy a typical mulberry or white fig granita. You will set off again on a panoramic road along the coast, reaching Ascea, home to the archaeological site of Velia, ancient cradle of the Eleatic school of philosophy. Dinner featuring Cilento-style pizza and overnight stay.

Day 5: Castelnuovo Cilento
After a hearty breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye to Cilento and set off on your return journey. With your heart full of unforgettable memories, we hope to see you soon for another incredible cycling adventure!
