Description

Day 1: Amsterdam
Individual arrival in Amsterdam. We suggest planning your arrival to have enough time to take a walk along the elegant tree-lined canals, among the typical tall and narrow houses and the 17th-century shops, Unesco Heritage. Don't forget to visit the city's famous squares: Dam Square, Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. Alternatively, if you prefer to explore quieter places, head towards Brouwersgracht or rent a pedal boat to admire the city from the unusual perspective of the canals.

Day 2: Amsterdam – Haarlem (53 km)
Even if you're strongly tempted to stay wandering around Amsterdam, remember you have the wonderful tulip fields waiting for you. Try to leave early, leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city and enter the southern Kennemerland region. Head to Croquius, a steam pumping station, to understand the complex water management in the Netherlands. Just after the village of Bennebroek, you'll start seeing the first tulip fields. Once in Haarlem, stop to admire the typically Dutch facades of the buildings on the market square. The city is full of art, culture, landmarks, restaurants and cafés.

Day 3: Haarlem – Leiden (38 km)
Haarlem's historic center deserves an in-depth visit. We recommend taking a city tour to discover its hidden hofjes: traditional gardens framed by typical Dutch houses. They are usually found near a church or a charity hospice. We also recommend a visit to the Frans Hals Museum, where you'll feel transported to the Golden Age through the paintings of Frans Hals, who used to portray his fellow citizens, Jacob Ruysdae who specialized in coastal or inland landscapes, and Pieter Saenredam. In the afternoon you will cross the colorful areas of the Dune and Bulbs. We advise making this trip before mid-May, to appreciate all the splendor of the blooming fields; tulips, crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths are grown here to be then exported and for a short period of time they radically transform the look of these places, making it one of the favorite attractions for visitors. If you then want to visit the Keukenhof Flower Show, known worldwide, we recommend you book an extra night in Leiden, the oldest university city in the Netherlands. Always very lively, it offers numerous cultural events and in the beautiful historic center there are canals, monuments, windmills and museums. A special mention goes to the historic Botanical Garden, the oldest in the Netherlands, in which tulip bulbs were first introduced, at the time a symbol of prestige and wealth.

Day 4: Leiden – Amsterdam (63 km)
The way to Amsterdam runs alongside several lakes and crosses the countryside of the Green Heart of Holland up to the river Amstel, from which the city takes its name. On its banks there are charming villages and beautiful villas; it's one of the greenest routes leading to the city. Amsterdam originated as a fishing village on a dam at the mouth of the river and the oldest part developed around the Oude Kerk (Dutch for Old Church), the oldest building in the city, which stands on the picturesque Oudekerksplein square, perfectly located for a postcard view.

Day 5: Amsterdam
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
