Description

Day 1: Girona
Individual arrival in Girona and accommodation in the hotel. Discover Girona, a city rich in history and picture-postcard landscapes, which boasts the Cathedral with the widest Gothic nave in Christianity at almost 23 meters, second only to St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. Getting lost among the narrow streets of the ancient Jewish quarter is a unique experience, as it is one of the best-preserved neighborhoods in the world. Also, we recommend a walk along the Rambla or the medieval walls, which offer a fantastic panoramic view of the city.

Day 2: Girona – Sant Hilari – Girona (102 km; +1560 m)
After a hearty breakfast, you will start the first stage of your tour. You will first face a challenging climb to the city of Sant Hilari, followed by an exciting descent to the city of Santa Coloma. The route will then take you back to Girona winding through the fantastic countryside of the Gironès.

Day 3: Girona – Calella de Palafurgell (108 km; +1500 m)
Today you will cycle on a level terrain to Llagostera: from there begins the climb of Sant Grau (465m). After overcoming the hill, a great descent with fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea awaits you. You will ride along a section of the 2009 Tour de France to reach Palamós and finish the stage in the fishing village of Calella, considered one of the most beautiful villages on the Costa Brava.

Day 4: Calella – Castelló d’Empúries (67 km; +480 m)
Starting from Calella, you will face a short climb to reach the lighthouse of Sant Sebastià and then another one to reach Begur and then the Gulf of Pals, characterized by a long sandy beach. From there you will cycle inland to Pals, a famous medieval village: it's really worth spending some time wandering around its streets. After crossing charming medieval villages you will reach Torroella de Montgrí. You will then continue towards the beaches of Empúries and l’Escala. We suggest you to visit the archaeological site of Empúries with its Greek and Roman ruins overlooking the sea and dating back to 600 BC. The route will then pass by Castelló d’Empúries with its splendid cathedral attesting to the power of this municipality in antiquity. From there you will cross a wetland with a bird reserve, to reach Roses.

Day 5: Castelló d’Empúries – Banyuls – Figueres (109 km; +1500 m)
Today you will cross the beautiful Cap de Creus Natural Reserve, passing through the Perafita pass. From there you can make an optional tour (11 km) to Cadaqués, where the famous surrealist painter Dalí lived, and then return to Perafita. Later you will cycle along the coast, cross the French border and finally reach Banyuls. You will return to Spain passing through the famous Col de Banyuls, ending the day in the city of Figueres, where you will stay overnight.

Day 6: Figueres – Coustouges – Molló (101 km; +2672 m)
This stage will take you to the Pyrenean passes located between France and Spain. You will cross the fascinating mountain pass at Coustouges (810m) and the Coll d’Ares (1524m), before facing a thrilling descent to Mollò.

Day 7: Molló – Girona (110 km; +798 m)
Today you will cycle through the Coll de Capsacosta pass and the city of Olot, in the heart of the volcanic park called La Garrotxa. The stage will end in Girona, where you will spend the night.

Day 8: Girona
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
