Description

Day 1: Bari
Individual arrival in Bari. After settling your luggage, you can visit Bari, a city where two souls meet: the historic center, surrounded by an imposing wall and crossed by alleys that lead to the discovery of its rich heritage, and the modern city, built at the beginning of the 1800s. Before returning to the hotel, you can also visit the Basilica of San Nicola, a wonderful example of Apulian Romanesque.

Day 2: Bari – Trani (70 km;  +/-390 m)
After breakfast and picking up the bicycles with road map and route description, the tour begins! Today you will cycle among the beautiful Apulian Romanesque cathedrals, crossing the towns of Bitonto, Terlizzi, Ruvo di Puglia, and Trani. Upon reaching Trani, you can see its cathedral, considered the “Queen of cathedrals in Puglia” for its majesty and grandeur, the work of Barisano from Trani, decorated with a wonderful bronze door composed of 32 panels each depicting a biblical character.

Day 3: Trani – Castel del Monte (37 km; +/-550 m)
Today's itinerary involves cycling through the Puglian hinterland. Riding the bike, you will reach Andria, famous for its mozzarella cheese stuffed with soft and stringy curd. After a short stop, continuing towards the Alta Murgia National Park, you will pass through hills, pastures, olive trees, and vineyards on a hill of the Murgia Plateau, until you reach Castel del Monte which has become an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4: Castel del Monte – Gravina di Puglia (53 km; +/-540 m)
Again today, the Murgia Plateau will be the backdrop. You will cycle among huge grasslands interrupted by the whiteness of the rocks, while a dense and lush forest changes color according to the seasons, and a network of channels provides water to large cultivated fields. Following the route, you will arrive in Gravina di Puglia, a land full of natural galleries, caves and cavities excavated by an underground river and once inhabited.

Day 5: Gravina di Puglia – Matera (42 km; +/-530 m)
After a hearty breakfast, you will ride up to Altamura. The town, visible on a ledge overhanging the plateau, is known for its many tourist attractions, including the delicious Altamura PGI bread which you must taste! You will then arrive in Matera, another famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its stones and fascinating landscapes located between Basilicata and Puglia.

Day 6: Matera – Alberobello (76 km; +/-650 m)
Today's stage will take you back to Puglia. Crossing Gioia del Colle, the homeland of mozzarella, and Noci, you will reach Alberobello universally known as the Capital of Trulli and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 7: Alberobello – Polignano a Mare – Bari (32 km; +/-180 m)
Today, cycling, you will discover the extraordinary beauty of the Puglian countryside. You will pedal towards the Grotte di Castellana, known for its intriguing stalactites and stalagmites, and for the suggestive play of light and shadow. Then a gentle descent will take you to Polignano a Mare, a shining gem of the Itria Valley coast, perched on a limestone cliff above the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. Once in this beautiful place, you can decide to return to Bari by train (not included), or by bike passing from Alberobello, Polignano a Mare, and Bari (about 80 Km).

Day 8: Bari
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
