Description

Day 1: Colmar
Individual arrival in Colmar and hotel check-in. Take some time to explore this wonderful city, stroll through the historic center and its charming medieval alleys.

Day 2: Colmar – circular tour in the famous wine villages – Colmar (45 or 61 km)
You will leave Colmar heading north, cycling up to Ribeauvillé, before returning to Colmar through the beautiful wine villages of Riquewihr, Turckheim, and Eguisheim, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France.

Day 3: Colmar – Mulhouse – Colmar (65 km)
From Colmar, you will follow the beautiful cycle path that will lead you to Neuf-Brisach, a small French town known especially for the octagonal-shaped fortification designed by Vauban, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Continuing, you will reach the cute village of Ottmarsheim, with its beautiful 12th-century church. You will proceed into the Hardt forest and then follow the Huningue canal to reach Mulhouse. We recommend that you visit the National Automobile Museum, the largest car museum in the world, after having enjoyed a relaxing walk or bike ride in its historic center. Return trip to Colmar by regional train.

Day 4: Colmar – Sélestat – Osthouse (30 or 66 km)
You will cycle along the canal bike path to Marckolsheim on the Rhine. From there, you will continue to Sélestat, which has a rich architectural heritage. Its fascinating historic center includes two magnificent churches: the Romanesque Church of Sainte Foy from the 12th century and the Gothic Church of Sainte-Georges built between the 13th and 15th centuries. Continuing, you will find the village of Ebersmunster which hosts a treasure of French religious heritage: its abbey church, dedicated to Saint Maurice, turned into German baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century, is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Eastern France. Compared to the many rural villages along the road, the larger city of Benfeld and its beautiful Renaissance-style mayor will be a very interesting contrast. It's possible to travel directly from Colmar to Sélestat by train (bicycles are allowed for free).

Day 5: Osthouse – Strasbourg – Osthouse (25 or 67 km)
On a paved bike path along the Canal du Rhône au Rhin, you will cycle north to Strasbourg. The route ends at the Barrage Vauban, a covered bridge and defensive work erected in the 17th century on the river Ill. From its panoramic terrace, you will enjoy a wonderful view of the old city of Strasbourg, which you can subsequently explore by bike or on foot. Strasbourg has one of the most beautiful and functional bike trail networks in France. The picturesque district of La petite France and the magnificent Gothic cathedral are just a few of the many treasures you will encounter in Strasbourg. Opportunity to reach Strasbourg by train (bicycles are allowed for free) to have more time to visit the city.

Day 6: Osthouse – Circular tour of wine villages – Osthouse (50 or 60 km)
This circular tour will take you west to the foot of the Vosges Mountains: where the famous vineyards start. It's worth exploring the small but picturesque old town of Obernai, as well as the wine village of Barr. On the way back, you will have the opportunity to visit other beautiful wine villages along the Wine Route, such as Mittelbergheim, Andlau, Itterswiller, and Nothalten, or you can shorten your stage passing through the blooming village of Stotzheim.

Day 7: Osthouse – circular tour in the Rhine valley – Osthouse (42 or 60 km)
This route will take you east through the marshes to the responsible for this beautiful flat landscape: the Rhine. You will cycle along the German bank, crossing landscapes similar to the Grand Ried until reaching the town of Lahr. Lahr is located at the foot of the wine hills, where the Black Forest mountains begin. Across the Rhine dam, you will cycle through marshy forests and, if you want, you can take a ferry ride to reach the French border town of Rhinau. From there, you will be not far from the hotel.

Day 8: Osthouse
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
