Description

Day 1: Passau
Arrival at Passau, known as the city of 3 rivers, where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz meet. After settling in at the hotel, bicycle handover (if rented) and free time to visit the city.

Day 2: Passau - Schlögener Schlinge (40 km)
Your journey begins in Passau, where the magnificent Upper Danube Valley awaits you, a route that will guide you to the surprising Schlögener Schlinge. A moment of tranquility awaits in Engelhartszell: visit the serene Trappist monastery and be tempted by the refined liqueurs produced by the monks, a taste that tells stories of tradition and dedication. Your adventure then continues towards the Schlögen Bend, the famous bend in the Danube, where the rock has forced the river to reverse its direction by a full 180°.

Day 3: Schlögener Schlinge - Linz (55 km)
Today, leave behind the hills enveloped in lush forests to immerse yourself in the verdant Eferdinger basin region. This landscape is characterized by its gently cultivated hills, which alternate harmoniously with picturesque villages. Your day ends in Linz, the lively capital of Upper Austria. The city's ancient heart welcomes you with a mosaic of historical monuments, imposing churches, culturally rich museums, and elegant buildings.

Day 4: Linz - Grein (60 km)
Today's stage will take you to discover Linz and then Strudengau. Afterward, continue your journey along the Danube, heading towards picturesque Grein. This Baroque town will welcome you with its enchanting main square, adorned with historic houses with small turrets and the elegant Rococo Theatre, a wooden architectural gem, carefully kept inside the Town Hall.

Day 5: Grein - Wachau Valley (70 km)
After breakfast, set off by bike through the impressive landscapes of Strudengau and Nibelungengau, traveling a stretch of the Danube characterized by a narrow valley framed by towering rock walls up to 400 meters high. Above you, the remains of Struden Castle, witnesses to a rich and mysterious past, dominate the scene. Continuing, your journey leads you to the evocative Wachau Valley, famous for its terraced vineyards that stand harmoniously on the slopes, and the picturesque villages. The route ends at Melk, a memorable stage marked by the presence of the majestic Benedictine abbey. This masterpiece of Austrian Baroque art stands imposingly on a rocky spur, overlooking the Danube.

Day 6: Wachau Valley - Traismauer (40 km)
Today's stage will take you through a series of picturesque villages, each with its own charm. Start with Weißenkirchen, then move on to Spitz, where we suggest you take a relaxing walk to discover its hidden corners and welcoming atmosphere. After Spitz, the adventure continues to Dürnstein, famous for its suggestive ruins and historic castle. The day ends in Traismauer. Here, you'll have the opportunity to relax in traditional taverns, immerse yourself in local specialties and taste the fine wines, a product of the land and passionate work of the winemakers.

Day 7: Traismauer - Vienna (70 km)
You'll cover one of the most famous stretches of the Danube bike trail, leading to Vienna, the Austrian capital embodying imperial elegance, cultural richness, and love for music. Here, you'll be spoiled for choice: from the sumptuous royal palace to the majestic cathedral, from art museums rich in treasures to historic residences, not forgetting the lush gardens and prestigious theatres. It is possible to shorten this stage by taking a train.
