Day 2: Villach – Lake Ossiacher – Gegendtal – Lake Millstatt (70 km)
Leaving the small town of Villach, you will cycle towards Lake Ossiachersee, soon spotting the ruins of Landskron Castle overlooking the valley below. Surrounded by the majestic mountain scenery, you will reach the lake, whose emerald waters will astonish you with their beauty. You will then continue towards Lake Millstatt, crossing the Gegendtal. After passing the two lakes of Afritzer and Brennsee and the small town of Radenthein, you'll reach the eastern bank of the lake. A few more kilometers and you will have arrived at your destination.
Day 3: Lake Millstatt – Lake Weissensee - Lake Preseggersee/Hermagor/Tröpolach (60 km)
Today's journey starts from Lake Millstatt, then reaches Lake Weissensee. There are two possible routes to the lake. The first one goes along the Drava cycle path, where you turn just before Greifenburg towards Lake Weissensee and continue through small paths to the western shore of the lake. The second one leads to the eastern shore of the lake, where you need to take a boat to get to the western shore (ticket not included), as there's no road connection between the two shores. This alternative passes through the town of Spittal an der Drau, and then along the Stockenboier Landesstrass to the eastern shore. Both routes have their charm, so you can choose on the spot which one seems more suitable for you. Once you leave Lake Weissensee, a short climb towards the Kreuzbergpass and a quick descent await you. You'll cycle a bit more in the enchanting Gitschtal valley before reaching today's destination.
Day 4: Hermagor/Tröpolach/Lake Preseggersee – Lake Faakersee – Wörthersee (75 km)
Today's stage will take you along the Gailtal cycle path; the broad valley is pristine and the cycle path runs right through the natural landscape along the river. At the beginning of the stage, you will pass by Lake Pressegger See which, like all Carinthian lakes, with its warm waters, will invite you to take a dip. Before Villach, you will proceed at the foot of the majestic Dobratsch through a nature reserve created following a massive landslide. As you continue to cycle along the Gail river, which at this point is wide and shallow enough to become a perfect bathing place for many nature lovers, the cycle path will lead you to Faakersee, the emerald among Carinthian lakes, not very large but with warm and turquoise waters like those of the Caribbean; you will cycle around the lake from south to east and then a short stretch along the Drava cycle path to today's destination: Wörthersee.
Day 5: Wörthersee – Lake Klopeinersee – Klagenfurt (85 km)
Today's stage starts through the idyllic Keutschacher Seental, which extends parallel to the Wörthersee and is characterized by several enchanting small lakes that almost form a necklace of pearls along the route. Then you turn south near Klagenfurt. Passing in front of the imposing Maria Rain church, a pilgrimage destination, you descend past the Ferlach powerstation to the Drava cycle path. Stay on the cycle path until Tainach, where you continue to Stain im Jauntal until you reach Lake Klopeinersee, one of the smallest but warmest lakes in Europe. The route then continues along the artificial lake Völkermarkt and then along a railway trail to Klagenfurt, the stage finish. The city center still features many renaissance buildings and a southern atmosphere, small bars and shops complete the setting. Culture lovers can visit the Museum of Modern Art, while history enthusiasts can visit the Carinthia Museum. Those who prefer to admire cities from panoramic viewpoints, can instead enjoy the vista from the city's parish tower.
Day 6: Klagenfurt – Längsee – St.Veit/Glan – Maltschschersee – Klagenfurt (60 or 85 km)
Today you'll head north, to the central Carinthia region, rich in castles and historical buildings. Along your route, you'll find the imposing Maria Saal Cathedral, the Hochosterwitz Castle with its 14 fortifications, the small and picturesque Längsee lake, and the imposing ruins of Taggenbrunn Castle with its vineyard-covered slopes. You'll make a stop in St.Veit/Glan, the old capital of Carinthia, where you can admire the main square, still surrounded by magnificent buildings today. The route then winds along the Glan river and goes back south. On the way, you can admire Maltschachsee lake before returning to Wörthersee and Klagenfurt.
Day 7: Klagenfurt – Wörthersee – Villach (45 km)
The first part of the stage follows the northern shore of the Wörthersee, through the well-known and popular resorts of Pörtschach and Velden, some of the many beach towns that will invite you to take a refreshing swim in the lake. From Velden, you will head back along the Drava cycle path and, after passing Silversee lake, you finally reach Villach, your trip destination.
Day 8: Villach
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure or possibility to extend the stay.
