Bikes in the city: the solution for transporting children

For lovers of two wheels, riding a bike in the city is wonderful: it allows you to move with greater autonomy, avoiding traffic and delays. In addition to this, numerous European cities have taken specific measures to promote the use of bicycles even in urban areas, because they are a green mode of transport that reduces pollution levels. If you are a cyclist however, you will know very well that often moving around the city is not easy and among the reasons, is also the lack of space to transport objects or "materials" sometimes heavy. This problem arises even more if you are a cycling mom: how can kids be transported safely?

Urban cyclists: a bike to go everywhere

So far, numerous accessories and models of bikes have been designed to facilitate use in the city, an example being folding bikes, pedal-assisted ones and trailers for transporting children. One of the solutions that has convinced us the most is the one thought up by the Tern brand, specialized in folding and electric bicycles, which some time ago released a new model of urban bike, perfect for all lovers of city bikes. It's called GSD and we were immediately struck by its multi-tasking features: it is designed to carry "things" and people up to 180 kg, it's small, handy and has a Bosch engine for pedal assistance.

This is not just a simple urban bike, but rather an innovative model that combines various characteristics. In summary, it's a bike suitable for the whole family, which can be used anywhere.

What do we like about the GSD

  • it’s a compact and light bike, which can be easily transported even in the trunk of the car, while still having the length of a normal bike;

  • the frame is rigid, but some parts such as the handlebar and seat can be disassembled with extreme ease, so as to transport it in small spaces;

  • the frame is low, this allows a great balance, but it's suitable anyway for people from 150 to 195 cm in height;

  • it can carry up to 180 kg, with a dedicated space for two children, groceries or other items, in summary, it's a cargo bike;

  • the double battery has a range of 250 km, perfect also for travels;

  • it can accommodate up to 6 side bags, plus a passenger, this means that with two GSDs, a family can easily make a trip even over long distances.

This innovative model of Tern has been designed to easily transport not one, but two children with their seats: for this reason, it is the ideal urban bike for those who want to ride a bike in the city, without losing all the comforts of the car. The GSD not only fascinates us for its versatility in the city (it can be transported anywhere, even in elevators), but above all for its adaptability for travel. Even with small wheels, the bike is suitable for covering long distances, but especially for sustaining a perfect luggage load for your travels in Europe.
