Description

Day 1: Copenhagen
Upon arrival at the hotel, you will have free time to explore the Danish capital. Visit Nyhavn, the Royal Castle, or the Tivoli Amusement Park. Overnight in downtown Copenhagen.

Day 2: Copenhagen – Helsingør (50 km)
Cycling around Copenhagen is definitely a fantastic way to start our tour. You will follow the bike path along the coast, enjoying the magnificent view of Sweden and passing by the famous statue of the Little Mermaid and the Queen's residence. Enjoy the view of the fashionable houses and pass by the famous Bellevue Beach, before continuing to Dyrehaven, the royal hunting grounds, with centuries-old trees and herds of deer. Here is also Bakken, the oldest amusement park in the world. In Humlebæk you can visit the Modern Art Museum Louisiana, or take a lunch break at the port along the route. Today's stage will end at Snekkersten, once a fishing village, near Helsingør. Overnight in the Helsingør area.

Day 3: Sweden tour and/or Helsingør tour (40 km)
Highly recommended is the 2 km ride from Snekkersten to Helsingør, to visit the imposing Kronborg Castle and the historic city center. Also the Danish Maritime Museum, described by the New York Times as one of the places to visit in 2014 is a must, thanks to its beautiful architecture and exciting exhibition. You can also choose between three stages in Sweden: the longest route passes through the rocky peninsula of Kullen, but you can also choose shorter stages. The ferry to Sweden leaves every 15 minutes, price € 8 (not included) for round trip. Overnight in the Helsingør area.

Day 4: Helsingør – Hillerød (59 km)
Hornbæk, with its nice restaurants and the best beach on the north coast, will be the first stop of today. You will ride in a pleasant up and down, sometimes near the beach, other times among the dunes, through the charming village of Gilleleje. You will head into the woods, up to the large forest of Grib Skov (once the hunting grounds of the Danish king) and along the Esrum lake. Today's destination is Hillerød, with an old and picturesque city center and the beautiful Frederiksborg Castle, once residence of many Danish kings. Longer alternative: continue to cycle along the coast to Tisvildeleje - gateway to Tisvilde Hegn National Park and a famous summer seaside resort. From here, you will follow the regional cycling path to Hillerød, where you will stay overnight.

Day 5: Hillerød – Roskilde (40 km)
From the rural countryside you will head towards Roskilde Bay, where you will find many interesting places to stop. The Roskilde Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and counts 38 tomb plots of Danish kings and queens. Don't forget to visit the harbor, where you can see the Viking Ship Museum and the shipyard. Overnight in Roskilde.

Day 6: Roskilde – Copenhagen (52 km)
Today you will return to the coast, cycling through picturesque villages, to the southern beaches of the capital. A path will lead you along the coast, away from traffic and into the center of Copenhagen. Along the way, you will meet the Ark, the Modern Art Museum, the island of Amager, with the free town of Christiania (a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood), Christianshavn, and several architectural gems, along the canal between Zealand and the Island of Amager. Overnight in downtown Copenhagen.

Day 7: Copenhagen
After breakfast, end of services and individual departures. Possibility to extend the stay.
