The duet start-up and bicycle is getting more and more popular and there are many realities, in Italy and abroad, that have decided to invest in new, more sustainable forms of mobility. Today we want to take you with us to discover 5 start-ups that have launched new products or services related to the world of bicycles: here they are and what is their mission.
Whip
This is a live tracking application that allows to record and share your outdoor routes. Whip Live's goal is to make safety features accessible to everyone, free of charge. Through live tracking, the app sends your position in real-time to selected contacts, such as loved ones who could alert the emergency services in case of need, or to the rest of your group so as not to get lost. If there is an emergency, it is also possible to send your gps coordinates, or find the nearest assistance point, be it mechanical or medical.
Cycl
Cyclist safety is also a very sensitive issue regarding daily travel because, to encourage the use of bicycles, it is vital to also ensure the highest level of safety during the journey. The start-up Cycl has come up with a series of light indicators that need to be mounted on the ends of the handlebar, to signal the presence of the cyclist on the road and any changes in direction (like the car's indicators), which can sometimes be very dangerous. High visibility rain cover, anti-pollution scarves and other accessories designed for the safety of those who choose sustainable mobility every day were then added.
Bikeep
However, safety is not just about cyclists: every year there are many cases of bicycle theft that strike Italian and foreign cities. To combat this phenomenon, which mainly occurs in the centres of medium and large cities, the Bikeep start-uppers stepped in, wanting to make a concrete contribution to the spread of bicycle use. What was their idea? They have designed a smart rack that works without needing any lock, because it itself locks the frame and the front wheel of the vehicle independently. The system is controlled through a card or your own app: this way, parking your bike becomes much safer and more practical.
BcPod
An alternative is offered by the Lombard start-up BcPod, which, starting from the idea that sometimes you choose not to use the bicycle because, for fear of theft or vandalism, you don't know where to park it and the need of many to have a secure parking for their means of transport, has come up with these boxes, which can be opened and closed via the app and where you can safely park your own means. You book your own space always through the app, by locating the nearest boxes, where besides the bike, you can also leave helmet and backpack: practical and safe.
Save Riding
We finally conclude with Save Riding, whose main focus is sustainability. This all-Italian start-up has indeed created an app designed for those who live sustainable mobility every day and that combines respect for the environment, game and economic benefits. By using the app, you accumulate points based on the kilometres travelled by bicycle, which will then give you discounts at partner businesses. Further special benefits can be gained by participating in the challenges. So, you have fun and save by safeguarding the environment.
Now that we've told you about start-ups that invest in bicycles, let us tell you something: Cyclando is also an innovative start-up, born with the purpose of making it easy and accessible for everyone to plan and go on a bike trip, because we are convinced that every less car on the road is a good thing for everyone.
