Description

Day 1: Krems/Mautern
Arrive individually and settle into your hotel. Take advantage of your time to explore the surroundings and end your day with a glass of Wachau wine.

Recommended daily stages:
A. Melk – Spitz – Weißenkirchen – Dürnstein – Krems/Mautern (37 km + cruise from Krems to Melk)
Your day starts with a cruise to Melk. Take some time to visit the beautiful monastery, the Venus of Willendorf, stroll around the delightful town of Spitz, and explore Dürnstein Castle and ruins. Here, you can also enjoy a typical snack of the Wachau region (included).

B. Bike path St. Pölten – Krems/Mautern (40 km + train ride from Krems to St. Pölten) – only available on day 4
In the morning, take the train to St. Pölten, the capital of Lower Austria. Walk around the Baroque center and enjoy a coffee in the country's second oldest pedestrian area. Visit the town hall square and the cathedral square, both evidence of a long Roman past. Modern attractions in the city are the Festspielhaus, the Landtagsschiff and the Lower Austria Provincial Museum. Via the Traisental bike path, return to the Danube passing through Herzogenburg, home to the impressive Augustinian Canons Monastery, and Traismauer. The last few kilometres along the Danube Cycle Path will take you back to your hotel in Krems/Mautern.

C. Kamptal Rosenburg Cycle Path – Krems/Mautern (42 km + train ride from Krems to Rosenburg) – only available on day 4
A train will take you to Rosenburg* in the morning. The renaissance palace offers, in addition to a splendid setting, raptor displays. Pedal along the Kamptal trail towards Gars am Kamp. Return to Krems via the historic wine city of Langenlois, which also invites you to take a coffee break in the picturesque old town.

D. Krems/Mautern – Aggsbach/Aggstein – Melk (37 km + train ride Emmersdorf-Krems) – only available on day 5
After a hearty breakfast, start your bicycle tour. Beginning in Krems, you cycle along the Danube cycle path through picturesque villages. In Aggsbach, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Charterhouse, founded by Heidenreich Von Maissau in 1380. If you have the energy for a steep climb, you can reach the ruins of Aggstein. As you continue cycling, you will come across small taverns along the way. The impressive Melk Monastery looms in the distance, ready to welcome you. Return to Krems by train.

E. Danube Cycle Path Krems/Mautern – Tulln (43 km + train ride from Tulln to Krems) – only available on day 5
You will cover the most famous stretch of the Danube Cycle Path. Don't miss the beautiful flower town of Tulln. From April to October, you also have the chance to visit the famous garden show Die Garten Tulln. Train included Tulln – Krems (out of season Wachaubahn from May 30th to October 31st).

F. Krems/Mautern – Furth – Göttweig – Angern (25 km)
The Göttweig Tour awaits you: you will pass through the wine towns of Mautern, Furth, and Palt, and admire various types of landscapes, such as vineyards, wheat fields and forests, as you cycle towards the Göttweig Abbey (steep climb), in which about 45 monks still live. Enjoy the view!

G. Day trip to Vienna
If you want to explore a metropolis, you can take a train from Krems to Vienna (about 1 hour, not included). Explore the multicultural and musical city of Vienna while discovering Mozart, Sissi and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Also, don't forget to taste the famous Viennese schnitzel.

H. Rest day in Krems
This day is dedicated to the wine city of Krems. After tasting wines at the Krems wineries, we recommend a leisurely stroll through the streets of this delightful city. In the pedestrian area, you will find a variety of shops that are useful if you want to buy some souvenirs. The Krems Cathedral, the Piaristenkirche, and the Steiner Tor invite you for a visit. If you don't want to give up physical activity today, you could also take a walk through the vineyards.

Day 6: Krems/Mautern
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.

*Rosenburg Castle only opens in May; however, the bike tour is also possible in other periods.
