Description

Day 1: Biar
Arrive individually to Biar, in the province of Alicante and part of the Valencian Community, rich with historical sites and crowned by its picturesque 12th-century castle. Enjoy a walk through the historic core with its labyrinth of narrow streets and take your time visiting the many squares and churches. Don't miss out on trying some delicious local dish in one of the numerous bars and restaurants.

Day 2: Biar – Bocairent (27 or 32 or 46 km)
Your bike trip through the Region of Valencia starts on an old railway, parallel to the river Vinalopó. Cross orchards and numerous small villages, approaching Banyeres de Mariola, where you can choose between two different trails. The first one is a flat terrain, bordering the natural reserve of Sierra de Mariola, and quickly brings you to Bocairent. The second one leads into Sierra de Mariola, inviting you to a climb towards breathtaking views. Continue to the imposing medieval city of Bocairent, where you'll stay overnight. Don't miss out on a stroll in the historic center.

Day 3: Bocairent – Ontinyent (15 or 30 km)
After breakfast, head towards Ontinyent. Once again you can choose between two routes. The first one is faster and allows you to visit the medieval city of Bocairent with ease. The second one is slightly longer, leading you on a bike path to La Valleta d’Agres amidst fruit tree groves, at the foot of the imposing Sierra de Mariola. Pass through characteristic villages like Alfafara and Agres. Your overnight stay is in a unique rural setting.

Day 4: Ontinyent (40 km)
Today's stage involves a splendid circular tour around Ontinyent. Pedal along quiet streets through tranquil fields, olive groves, and vineyards. Going along the route, you'll spot beautifully nested grandiose buildings. Houses here blend into the landscape as you make your way towards Fontanars dels Alforins, another charming village in Valencia's Region, where some ancient nobles houses were turned into wineries, and you can visit shops offering delicacies and handicrafts.

Day 5: Fontanars – Xàtiva (35 km)
Start the day pedaling through verdant fields and fertile almond, olive and apricot woods, all assembled in a mosaic of persimmon plantations and ancient vineyards. Through several small villages, reach Bellús dam’s banks. The area around the dam has high landscape and ecological value. Along your path, you'll meet many artifacts of historical value such as old water mills, azuts (water diversion dams), and irrigation infrastructures. The lands around here are the most fertile in the district. Take a trail along the gorge of the Albaida river, where you can refresh with a dip in spring and summer. Arrive then in the noble city of Xàtiva, historical stronghold of Valencia, a rich historical location overlooked by an imposing castle.

Day 6: Xàtiva – Cullera (55 km)
Leaving Xàtiva, cycle through Valencia's hinterland, featuring verdant fields and orange groves. The region is famed for its quality oranges, growing big and juicy thanks to the Mediterranean's mild climate. Take quiet roads and trails winding through orange groves, venture into a quaint small valley following part of the pilgrimage route linking several monasteries, along which you'll meet the imposing Simat de la Valldigna monastery. Amid rice fields, arrive in Cullera, a coastal city with splendid sea views where you can savor some local rice specialties. This city has many beaches you can enjoy even in winter on sunny days.

Day 7: Cullera – Valencia (46 or 56 km)
If you go for the longer option, you'll start the day cycling along the banks of the Xúquer river, whose waters irrigate the lush fields and woods of the entire region. Then venture into the natural reserve known as the Albufera Natural Park, one of the most precious ecosystems in the Mediterranean: here you can admire different natural environments such as lakes, marshlands, sand dunes, and pine forests along the waterfront, each with its own flora and fauna. Don't forget to try the authentic Valencian paella, which was born in this area. Then take a walk near the port and watch the fishermen at work. Once in Valencia, explore the formidable old town with its cathedral and the magnificent central market. Be sure not to miss the narrow streets and squares full of cafes, bars, and restaurants: food enthusiasts will certainly be pleased. The city is also famous for its nightlife.

Day 8: Valencia
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
