Description

Day 1: Salzburg
Individual arrival in Salzburg, delivery of travel documents and rented bicycles at your hotel. Visit Salzburg, an ancient and charming bishop's city where you can admire the various Italian and German influences that have shaped the Baroque culture, creating a charming atmosphere that will captivate you. Overnight in Salzburg.

Day 2: Salzburg – Thalgau (23 km; +270/-140 m)
In the morning, we recommend visiting the center of Salzburg. In the afternoon, the tour includes a pleasant bike ride along the ex-Ischl railway line, which was closed and dismantled over fifty years ago. From 1893 to 1957, the narrow-gauge railway crossed Salzburg, Mondsee and Wolfgangsee up to the imperial summer residence of Bad Ischl. You will cross meadows and forests, along beautiful bike paths and then passing through Eugendorf, you will arrive in Thalgau. Overnight in Thalgau.

Day 3: Thalgau – Bad Ischl (43 km; +315/- 390 m)
Leaving from Thalgau, you will follow a charming forest path until you reach St. Lorenz in Mondsee. Here you will admire the striking and steep Drachenwand, whose crest marks the border between the provinces of Salzburg and Upper Austria. Afterwards, you continue with a short climb through the Schaflinger Höhe up to Wolfgangsee. From here, the cycle path leads along the picturesque Krottensee up to the Mozartian town of St. Gilgen. The cycle path that skirts the Wolfgangsee lake will then lead you to Strobl, near the Blinklingmoor nature reserve. Then you will follow the small Ischl river up to the former imperial summer residence of Bad Ischl, where you will stay overnight.

Day 4: Bad Ischl – Lake Mondsee (38 km; +290/-270 m)
From Bad Ischl, you will take the cycle path up to St. Wolfgang passing through Pfandl, where salt was produced in the 12th century, and through Radau. Here, we recommend visiting the pilgrimage church dedicated to St. Wolfgang of Regensburg, which holds historical and artistic treasures. Afterwards, a boat will take you from St. Wolfgang to St. Gilgen, Mozart's village. The route then continues along the lake shore, passing at the foot of the Drachenwand through St. Lorenz and the oddly named "Black India" district up to Mondsee. Don't miss a walk along the delightful promenade. Overnight on Lake Mondsee.

Day 5: Lake Mondsee – Seekirchen (37 km; +355/-340 m)
Today's stage will take you from the Salzkammergut region to the Land of Salzburg Lakes. Before continuing your journey, we recommend visiting the local open-air museum known as Mondseer Rauchhaus. The route then continues on a cycle path to Lake Irrsee and along the left bank to the end of the lake, in the village of Oberhofen. From Oberhofen, located north of the lake, the journey continues towards Flachgau up to Neumarkt am Wallersee. Here, quiet country roads with low traffic lead around Wallersee up to Seekirchen. Overnight on Lake Wallersee.

Day 6: Lake Wallersee – Seeham (34 km; +/-315 m)
From Lake Wallersee you pass Köstendorf and cycle towards Schleedorf, continuing towards Mattsee and Obertrumer See up to Seeham. We recommend visiting the impressive Obertrum brewery, where you can discover the art of beer production. Overnight on Lake Obertrumer See.

Day 7: Seeham – Salzburg (34 km; +290/-390 m)
From Seeham you pass Nußdorf and continue to the village of Oberndorf, where the Chapel of St. Nicholas is located, also known as the Stille Nacht Chapel because the famous Christmas song resounded here for the first time. Then the route continues along the Salzach river and on the Mozart cycle path towards Anthering and finally Salzburg. Overnight in Salzburg.

Day 8: Salzburg
After breakfast, end of services. Individual departure or additional nights.
