A transfer will take you from Porto airport to the starting point of your tour, Miranda do Douro: enjoy the beautiful landscapes and scenes along the way. You will continue along olive groves and almond trees until you reach the medieval Torre de Moncorvo, the capital of the almond blossom festival. Day 4: Torre de Moncorvo – Vila Flor (29 km; +/- 338 m)
Today you will pedal along the Douro River for the first time. Prepare yourself for breathtaking views and a magical landscape. The descent to the river will take you through olive groves that produce some of the best olive oils in the world. Tonight, you will stay in a farm that produces traditional and organic olive oil. For dinner, you will be served some of the best local dishes: homemade cheeses, sausages, bread and olive oil, local oranges, and homemade wine. Day 5: Vila Flôr – Sabrosa (29 km; +/-230 m or 32 km; +/-250 m)
The Alto Douro wine region is famous for its wines, especially Port. The terraced vineyards, so typical of the region, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, were built by men on the hillsides. The estates or quintas that produce the wine stand proudly among the vineyards, with their names clearly visible to all who pass by. When you arrive at the river, you will load your bike onto a Rabelo boat and enjoy a river cruise to Pinhão, the next stop, around which most of the famous Port wine estates are located. Don't forget to visit the beautifully tiled train station. The 17th-century house where you will stay is located on the hill and offers magnificent views of the city. Picnic and dinner included.
