Description

Day 1: Porto – Miranda do Douro
A transfer will take you from Porto airport to the starting point of your tour, Miranda do Douro: enjoy the beautiful scenery and landscapes along the way. Also the landscape of the Canyons carved by the Douro River over 200 meters high will conquer you. Once in Miranda do Douro, allow yourself a stroll in the small town, with its typical white houses and narrow cobblestone streets.

Day 2: Miranda do Douro – Mogadouro (41 km; +/-311 m)
The first bike leg of the tour will take you to Spain. You will cycle along the coast, rocked by the gentleness of the flat landscape. Your wheels will touch the slopes of the Sierra de la Grova mountains, and further south, those of the Sierra de Argalo. Continuing your journey, you will find yourself on the border with Portugal, where you will have the opportunity to choose between two different routes. If you opt for the ferry, you will travel through the calm waters of the Minho River, which will give you a unique and suggestive view of the city of Caminha. If you prefer to stay on land, you can cross the Vila Nova de Cerveira bridge, an experience that combines the adrenaline of the road trip with the spectacular panorama of the river flowing below you. Upon arriving in Caminha, you will be greeted by elegant manor houses that constitute the city entrance, each with its own history, deeply rooted in the pre-Roman era. These buildings, full of stories and mysteries, will take you back in time, giving you a unique, almost timeless experience. This bike trip will not only be a journey through breathtaking landscapes but also a journey through history, where each pedal stroke will bring you closer to discovering the deep and fascinating roots of these lands.

Day 3: Mogadouro – Torre de Moncorvo (38 km; +/-180 m or 48 km; +/-414 m)
Today's stage will take you along an ancient railway line. This route passes through forests, fields, a typical agricultural landscape, and a few woods here and there. Although the shepherds you will meet do not speak your language, they are extremely friendly. You will continue along olive groves and almond trees until you reach the medieval Torre de Moncorvo, the capital of the almond blossom festival. Here you will be warmly welcomed for a tasting of delicious homemade liqueurs, which pair beautifully with Moncorvo almonds, grown in this area.

Day 4: Torre de Moncorvo – Vila Flôr (29 km; +/- 271 m)
Today you will cycle along the Douro River for the first time. Get ready for breathtaking views and magical landscape. The descent to the river will take you through olive groves that produce some of the best olive oils in the world. Today you will indeed spend the night at a farm that produces traditional and organic olive oil. For dinner, you will be served some of the best dishes of local cuisine: homemade cheeses, sausages, bread and olive oil, local oranges, and homemade wine. Located seemingly in the middle of nowhere, the atmosphere is so serene, and the night sky is so clear, that a walk to observe the stars after dinner will prove irresistible.

Day 5: Vila Flôr – Sabrosa (29 km; +/-98 m or 32 km; +/-212 m)
The Alto Douro wine region is famous for its wines, especially Porto. The terraced vineyards, so typical of the region, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site, were built by men on the hills. The estates or quintas that produce the wine rise proudly among the vineyards, their names clearly visible to all passersby. When you arrive on riverbanks, you will load your bike on a Rabelo boat and enjoy a river cruise up to Pinhão, the next stop, around which most of the famous Porto wine estates are located. Don't forget to visit the beautifully tiled train station. The seventeenth-century house where you will stay is located on the hill and offers a magnificent view of the city.

Day 6: Sabrosa – Peso da Régua (44 km; +/-420 m)
The last leg of your bike holiday begins on a trail that will take you to cycle along the secondary roads of the Douro Valley, and then continue on a quiet cycle path that returns to the riverbank, with nothing short of breathtaking views, as if the Douro Valley wanted to make sure you never forget its magic once you return home. In the end, you will arrive at Peso da Régua, the center of the Porto wine region and capital of the Douro district. The owner of one of the quintas will welcome you with a good wine on the terrace and invite you to share a culinary experience.

Day 7: Peso da Régua – Porto
After breakfast, transfer to Porto airport. End of services.
