Description

Day 1: Vienna
Arrival in Vienna at your own convenience, and check-in at the hotel. After settling your luggage, you will have time to explore this spectacular Imperial City, stopping at one of the typical Viennese cafes/inns with local food and various delicacies. The possibilities are endless in the City of Waltzes.

Day 2: Vienna – Bad-Deutsch Altenburg (42 km)
The Danube cycling path guides you along quiet paths through the Donauauen National Park and past Orth castle. Cross through the ancient Roman town of Petronell Carnuntum, with its excavations and Roman ruins, and continue to the Bad Deutsch Altenburg spa and resort town.

Day 3: Bad-Deutsch Altenburg – Bratislava – Mosonmagyarovar (71 km)
Follow the Danube cycling path to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Its characteristic old town with numerous sights, charming pedestrian zones and countless restaurants and cafes will invite you to enjoy a long walk through the streets of this historically important city. After visiting Bratislava, you will cycle in the Schüttinsel protected area, which will certainly enchant you with its unique and extraordinary character.

Day 4: Mosonmagyarovar – Györ (45 km)
Today, you will cycle through the fascinating and idyllic landscape of the protected area “Skigetköz” towards Györ. Györ is one of the most significant cities on the Hungarian plains, and its old town is captivating. It will certainly be enjoyable to stroll through the narrow alleys, cathedrals and palaces in this baroque city centre.

Day 5: Györ – Tata (61 km)
Do not forget to visit the Arabian National Stud in Babolna, a historic place of equestrian culture and the secret techniques of the renowned Hungarian horse breeding. Through a landscape of gentle hills, you will cycle to the city of Tata, the City of Lakes located at the foot of the Gerecse mountain range.

Day 6: Tata – Danube Bend (56 km)
The morning starts with a train journey from Tata to Komárom. Along the Slovak Danube, cross through small and characteristic rural villages in the alluvial plain basin region, up to Esztergom where you can admire the imposing and largest Catholic cathedral in Hungary.

Day 7: Danube Bend – Budapest (62 km)| Szentendre-Budapest boat tour
Steep mountain slopes frame the scenic landscape of the Danube Bend, up to the island of Szentendre. You can learn more about Hungarian architecture at a nearby open-air museum. Then, you will travel by bike and boat to Budapest (included).

Day 8: Budapest
After breakfast, end of services. We recommend you enjoy this day in the metropolis of Budapest, and if desired, you can return to Vienna by bus: departures with the bus every 2 hours on a daily basis. The bus must be booked in advance before arrival. The journey takes approximately 3 hours. The bus can also stop at the Vienna International Airport upon request.
