Description

Day 1: Passau
Get ready to experience the enchanting Mediterranean charm of the city of three rivers, Passau. After your arrival, take some time to explore the baroque old town: let yourself be captivated by its narrow alleys and the majestic Passau Cathedral, home to the world's largest church organ. Boarding the ship will take place between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Your cycling adventure will begin with a romantic boat ride, where you'll leave behind the postcard-perfect scenery of Passau as the sun sets.
Day 2: Engelhartszell - Brandstatt (45 km)
Breathe in the scent of dense forests and freshly mowed meadows. You will cycle through the pristine nature of the Upper Danube valley along the old towpath, passing through sleepy villages. The small rustic inns along the route will invite you to stop, with the enticing aroma of freshly grilled fish prepared according to local tradition. The Schlögener Blick viewpoint offers a breathtaking view of the Schlögener Schlinge, where the Danube carves a gorge and loops back on itself.
Day 3: Brandstatt - Linz (24 km)
Take one last breath of fresh country air before reaching, around noon, the capital of Upper Austria, Linz. During a guided walk through the picturesque old town, you will discover its enchanting charm. The cathedral is the largest church in Austria, and the Pöstlingbergbahn is the steepest adhesion railway in the world. Curious about the future? At the "ARS Electronica Museum," you can personally try impressive examples of modern technologies. Not to be missed!
Day 4: Tulln - Vienna (31 km)
Not far from the entrance to Vienna, immersed in a breathtaking landscape, lies Klosterneuburg Monastery. From a distance, you can already see the dome of this 900-year-old baroque building. "Kahlenbergerdorf," with its wine taverns, is a step away from the pier and is definitely worth a visit. After a walk through the vineyards, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Vienna. In the afternoon, with a bus tour of the city, you will pass by most of the numerous famous attractions, and you can also have a guided walking tour of the historic center of the Austrian capital (optional).
Day 5: Vienna (rest day)
During a tour of Vienna, all the beauties will be at your fingertips either from the saddle of your bicycle or from the HOP ON HOP OFF bus (optional). The magnificent Ringstraße will take you back in time, and inviting cafes will tempt you with delicious cakes and Viennese pastries, while the Naschmarkt market will be a feast for all the senses. You can end the evening beautifully with a waltz and operetta concert at Sissi's summer residence (optional).
Day 6: Wachau | Krems - Melk (37 km)
An unforgettable day in the picturesque Wachau region. You will cycle through delightful wine villages surrounded by terraced vineyards and apricot trees. The charming town of Dürnstein, with its narrow streets, will be one of the absolute highlights. In Spitz, one of the most famous wine villages of the World Cultural Heritage, you will have the opportunity to discover the renowned Wachau wines.
Day 7: Grein - Mauthausen (36 km)
A beautiful and diverse route awaits you, offering a wide range of experiences! Starting from the medieval town of Grein (where you can visit Austria's oldest theater, optional), you will cycle through the picturesque hinterland of the Strudengau region. With a bit of luck, you may be personally guided through the romantic Clam Castle by its lord. Additionally, you will take a journey back in time at the Celtic Village in Mitterkirchen. The Mauthausen Memorial, a WWII concentration camp site, is located on a hill near the town.
Day 8: Passau
Enjoy the last rays of sunshine and the morning tranquility from the ship's deck before reaching Passau/surroundings again, with your heart full of memories. Disembarkation will take place around 11:00 AM. We recommend not making plans for further connections departing before 12:00 noon. For safety, later departure times would be even better.
