Description

Day 1: Blois
Individual arrival in Blois. Possibility to visit the castle, a perfect illustration of how French architecture evolved between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and the beautiful historic center, with its typical cobbled streets, gardens, staircases, and churches.

Day 2: Blois – Amboise (40 km; +200m)
Following the bike paths of the Pays des Châteaux network and crossing small villages, you will reach the castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire, which proudly dominates the river. The La Loire à Vélo bike paths will then take you to the charming town of Amboise with its royal castle, where the greatest kings of France lived and where Leonardo Da Vinci also spent the last years of his life.

Day 3: Amboise – Chenonceaux (42 km,; +166m)
Today you will reach the wonderful Castle of Chenonceau. The itinerary will take you cycling through the vineyards of Montlouis-sur-Loire and across the Cher valley, the river over which the famous Castle of Chenonceau, the stage of the rivalry between Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de' Medici, respectively mistress and wife of Henry II, is literally built. The castle's interiors are definitely the most impressive, but it's also worth taking a walk in the castle gardens and relaxing in the shade of the immense trees of the park, letting the murmur of the river lull you and tell you the secrets of the castle.

Day 4: Chenonceaux – Cheverny or Chitenay (40 or 55 km; ; +209m or +173m)
Cycling along the quiet banks of the Cher river, you will reach the medieval town of Montrichard. You then leave the Cher to immerse yourself in the vineyards of the Touraine, passing by the small fortress of Fougères-sur-Bièvre, a perfect example of 15th-century local architecture. Today’s stage ends in Chitenay, in a charming rural inn, or in Cheverny, a stone's throw from the castle.

Day 5: Cheverny or Chitenay – Blois (40 or 50 km; +238m or +290m)
During this last bike stage, you will discover the famous and sumptuously furnished Castle of Cheverny, before reaching the magnificent Castle of Chambord, a masterpiece of the French Renaissance. Built at the behest of Francis I, with its 440 rooms, it is the largest of the Loire castles.

Day 6: Blois
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
