Day 1: Girona
Welcome to Girona! A city full of attractions and activities that will make you fall in love. The famous Jewish quarter, witness to a historic past, and the majestic Cathedral, with its impressive Gothic architecture, await you. Exploring the ancient city walls or strolling along the Onyar River, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the colourful houses lining the river.
Day 2: Girona - Sant Feliu de Guíxols (55 km; +690 m)
Departure from the Cicloturisme office, from where you begin your journey along the ‘El Carrilet’ cycle path, which takes you south out of town. Cycling between Quart, Cassà de la Selva and Llagostera, the landscape will be dominated by the Gavarres Massif, a mountain range full of oaks used for cork production. Continuing on, you will tackle the ascent to Col de Sant Grau, before enjoying a breathtaking descent with views of the Mediterranean Sea. The last part of the route will wind along the coast, giving you spectacular views from its 100 metres above sea level, until you reach Sant Feliu de Guíxols, where your hotel near the beach of Sant Pol will offer you a well-deserved rest.
Day 3: Sant Feliu de Guíxols - Torroella de Montgrí (59 km; +451 m)
Today's route takes you north along the coast, mixing coastal roads and scenic boulevards. The first stop will be the port of Palamós, followed by the beautiful cove of Platja de Castell, ideal for a picnic and a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean. You will then continue along the ‘Ruta del Tren Petit’ to reach the fishing village of Calella de Palafurgell, perfect for a lunch break. Cycling inland, you will pass through Palafrugell, famous for its fish, meat and vegetable market and the Cork Museum. The stage will end in the medieval village of Pals, passing through natural wetlands and rice fields, to Torroella de Montgrí, at the foot of Montgrí Castle.
Day 4: Torroella de Montgrí (65 km; +570 m)
Today you can choose between a relaxing day at the pool or beach, or an exciting bike tour. Following the course of the Daró river, you will discover charming medieval villages such as Fonolleres and Púbol, home to the Gala Dalí Castle. Returning to the coast, you will visit the ruins of an Iberian village near Ullastret, before passing through the picturesque medieval villages of Palau-Sator and Peratallada. An alternative route will take you to the coast, allowing you to explore the coastal village of L'Estartit.
Day 5: Torroella de Montgrí - Castelló d'Empúries (36 km; +60 m)
Heading north, you enter the Alt Empordà region, where the Bay of Roses welcomes you with its sandy beaches. A visit to the ancient settlement of Sant Martí de Empúries, with its Greek and Roman ruins, will be an experience not to be missed. Continuing on through the protected wetlands of Aiguamolls de l'Empordà, you will end the day in Castelló d'Empúries, with its rich architectural heritage and charming Jewish quarter.
Day 6: Castelló d'Empúries (68 km; +1130 m)
Today's route will be more challenging, taking you to the magnificent Cap de Creus. You will face two long climbs, so it is advisable to bring a battery charger for a recharge during your lunch break. After climbing the Coll de Perafita, you will arrive in Cadaqués, one of the most charming fishing villages. You will continue to the Cape to visit the Tudela Geological Park. You will return through Perafita and descend towards Port de la Selva, with a final challenge to the Romanesque monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, before returning to the hotel.
Day 7: Castelló d'Empúries - Figueres (46 km; +370 m)
The tour continues to Peralada, famous for its vineyards. You will visit a winery and the castle, cycling through the oldest vineyards. After a visit to the modernist cooperative winery of Espolla, you will face a long descent to Figueres, where you can visit the famous Dalí Theatre-Museum.
Day 8: Figueres - Olot (74 km; +1090 m)
Leaving Figueres, you head towards the volcanic landscapes of the Pyrenees. You will cross the undulating region, passing by the lake of Banyoles to Santa Pau, a picturesque village surrounded by small volcanoes. Through a beech forest, you will arrive in Olot, where you will explore the town's pedestrianised centre.
Day 9: Olot - Girona (59 km; +240 m)
The last stage takes you along the Brugent river valley, following the old ‘Carrilet’ railway line. This mostly downhill route will be a relaxing way to reflect on your experiences during the journey. Arriving in Girona, you will spend the last night in this fascinating city, concluding your incredible journey.
Day 10: Girona
You will end your tour with a heart full of unforgettable memories and a soul regenerated by the adventure. Enjoy your return journey!
