Description

Day 1: Blois
Individual arrival in Blois and accommodation in hotel. Explore the charming town of Blois, its cobbled streets in the center, the wonderful gardens, the staircases, and of course the castle, a perfect illustration of how French architecture evolved between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Day 2: Blois – Chambord - Blois (40 km; +176m)
On this first bike excursion, you will follow the banks of the Loire to the immense forest of the Domaine de Chambord, at the center of which stands the most majestic castle of the Loire Valley. The Château de Chambord will welcome you in all its Renaissance splendor, inviting you to visit its 440 rooms before setting off again through the countryside towards Blois.

Day 3: Blois – Amboise (40 km; +200m)
Following the cycling paths of the Pays des châteaux and crossing picturesque small villages, you will reach the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, which majestically overlooks the river from the rocky spur on which it stands. You will then reach the town of Amboise and its Royal Castle where the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci is kept inside the Chapel, as he spent the last years of his life a few steps from here, at the manor of Clos Lucé, which we recommend you to visit.

Day 4: Amboise – Chenonceaux – Amboise (45 km; +343m)
After crossing the forest of Amboise, you reach the scenic Château de Chenonceau, literally built on the River Cher, which was the scene of one of the most famous rivalries in French history, between Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de' Medici, respectively the lover and wife of King Henry II.

Day 5: Amboise – Tours (24 km; +100m or 32 km, +285m)
Cycling through the vineyards of Montlouis you will have the opportunity to discover the many cellars where the famous white wine of the area is produced. You will then reach the city of Tours. Explore the beautiful historic center whose lively heart is the Place Plumereau, a vibrant square surrounded by the typical and perfectly preserved half-timbered houses, animated by the terraces of bars and restaurants that face it.

Day 6: Tours – Villandry – Tours (39 km; +78m)
Cycling on the bike paths of La Loire à Vélo you will reach the Château de Villandry, known for its famous Renaissance French gardens where flowers, fruit trees, vegetables, and aromatic herbs are blended. Don't miss the Garden of Love that tells through colors about tender love, passionate love, capricious love, and tragic love, the Physical Garden and the Music Garden. Return to Tours following quiet country roads.
