Description

Day 1: Arrival in Alta Val Pusteria (Villabassa/Dobbiaco)
Individual arrival at the hotel.
Free unattended parking near the hotel.

Day 2: Villabassa/Dobbiaco – Lienz/surroundings (approximately 50 - 55 km)
Your first bike ride will take you along the bike path towards enchanting San Candido; after crossing the Italian-Austrian border, you will reach Sillian, from where you will start descending along the river towards the sunniest city in Austria, Lienz in Osttirol, also known as "the Pearl of the Dolomites"; its characteristic center is closed to traffic from June to September, so you can enjoy a peaceful and pleasant walk.

Day 3: Lienz/surroundings - Dellach/Berg im Drautal (approximately 30 - 35 km)

In Roman times, the town was the capital of Osttirol and became a thriving hub for crafts and trade: if you haven't already done so, before getting back on the bike, take the opportunity to visit the "Aguntum" Museum (5 km from Lienz), where you can discover aspects of everyday life and customs from the Roman times. Moving away from the point where the Isel river meets the Drava, you will continue along the cycle path towards the border between the Osttirol region and Carinthia, crossing Oberdrauburg to reach Berg.

Day 4: Dellach/Berg im Drautal - Sachsenburg/Spittal a.d. Drau (approximately 30 - 45 km)
Crossing an idyllic landscape and dream-like villages, you will ride today from Dellach/Berg to Sachsenburg/Spittal an der Drau. We highly recommend a detour to Lake Millstätter, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Spittal a.d. Drau is well-known for the theater performances held in summer at the Porcia castle, considered one of the most remarkable Renaissance buildings in Austria.

Day 5: Sachsenburg/Spittal a.d. Drau - Rosegg/Mühlbach (approximately 60 - 70 km)
The pleasant ride today will lead you along the banks of the Drava to the district town of Villach, the second largest city in Carinthia, rich in history and culture. Here, in the triangle where the borders of Carinthia, Slovenia, and Italy meet, you can feel the Mediterranean charm. The picturesque medieval historic center invites you for a stroll. From Villach, you continue to ride for another stretch along the Drava to Rosegg/Mühlbach.

Day 6: Rosegg/Mühlbach - Lake Klopeiner (approximately 55 - 60 km)
Today's route continues in fascinating Carinthia through the wonderful landscapes of the Rosental Valley. Along the Drava bike path, it is possible to make stops to appreciate the various cultural and sports offerings; for example, at the artificial lake of Feistritz, you can go canoeing, while various museums (the gunsmith's, the bee's, and the Carnica museum) offer a glimpse into the history of the region.

Day 7: Rest or tour of Lake Klopeiner
Today you are free to enjoy a relaxing day and take a dip in the lake, or go on an individual tour to discover southern Carinthia.

Day 8: Departure
Individual departure, or the possibility to continue the journey.
