Description

Day 1: Amboise and Montlouis (33 km; +249m)
Pedaling through the vineyards of Montlouis, you will reach the Grand Aquarium of Touraine and the magnificent Château de la Bourdaisière, surrounded by a vast park. Upon returning to Amboise, you can visit the Clos Lucé Manor, where Leonardo Da Vinci spent the last three years of his life.

Day 2: Chenonceaux (43 km; + 343m)
Once you have crossed the Amboise forest, you will arrive at the famous Château de Chenonceau, spectacularly constructed over the Cher River and the scene of the famous rivalry between Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de' Medici, respectively the mistress and wife of King Henry II.

Day 3: Vouvray (48 km; +390m)
Today, you will leave the banks of the Loire for a moment to venture among the picturesque vineyards of the Vouvray area, surrounded by famous troglodyte houses and known for the fine white wines they produce. Along the itinerary, you can also admire some private Renaissance castles, such as the Château de Valmer, with its wonderful Italian-style gardens, and the impressive Château de Jallanges. Finally, you will have the opportunity to stop at one of the local producers for a Vouvray wine tasting.

Day 4: Chaumont-sur-Loire (45 km; +298m)
Following the winding roads that will take you to pedal along the banks of the Loire, you will reach the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire, built in the 15th century on a rocky spur above the Loire. In addition to the castle and stables, don’t miss the extraordinary Festival des Jardins, held within the Domaine from May to mid-October. Individual departure at the end of the excursion or the possibility to book an extra night in Amboise.
