Description

Day 1: Cork
Individual arrival in Cork and accommodation in hotel. Cork is a lively town that offers many entertainment alternatives; most points of interest are within a short walk of each other.

Day 2: Cork – Gougane Barra (72 km)
After picking up your bikes, you will start your tour by cycling along the banks of the Lee River on quiet secondary roads. You can stop for a quick lunch in the market town of Macroom before continuing along the Lee Valley through beautiful countryside to the quiet refuge of Gougane Barra, the source of the Lee River and the first National Park in Ireland.

Day 3: Gougane Barra – Ahakista (45 km)
Today, you will descend towards the coast across fields once used for sheep grazing to reach the coastal town of Bantry. After lunch, you can visit Bantry House, residence of the Earl of Bantry, and stroll through the beautiful gardens. In the afternoon, you will head towards the Sheeps Heads peninsula, cycling on quiet coastal roads that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Day 4: Ahakista - Baltimore (63 km)
This morning you will cycle to the fishing village of Schull where you can have lunch. In the afternoon, you will continue to the vibrant town of Skibereen before heading south to the small town of Baltimore where you will spend two nights.

Day 5: Baltimore
Today you can choose whether to relax or engage in various activities: you can visit Cape Clear Island with its magnificent views over West Cork, do some trekking in the forest on Lough Ine, the only salt lake in northwest Europe, or take a bus to Skibereen where the livestock market still takes place weekly... for a throwback to the rural life of the past!

Day 6: Baltimore - Clonakilty (63 km)
In the morning, on secondary roads, you will reach the quiet Lough Ine and then follow the West Cork coast to the town of Glandore where you can have lunch enjoying the view of the harbor with the two islands Adam and Eve. In the afternoon, you can visit the 3000-year-old monolith site, one of the best examples of its kind in the country; you will then continue along another scenic road to Clonakilty.

Day 7: Clonakilty – Kinsale – Cork (62 or 79 km)
First, you will cycle inland to Timoleague where you can visit the 15th-century Franciscan convent, then continue along the coast to the historic town of Kinsale, site of the eponymous battle of 1601. In the afternoon, you will return to Cork for the last overnight stay.

Day 8: Cork
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
