Description

Day 1: Scanno
Individual arrival in the splendid setting of the village of Scanno and welcome briefing where the weekend program will be presented. Scanno is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and as you visit it, you will understand why. A town of medieval origin, it has a perfectly preserved historical center, also depicted by Maurits Cornelis Escher, a Dutch engraver and graphic designer. Scanno is also the town of goldsmiths and visiting a workshop to see how the Presentosa is made in silver filigree is a truly exciting experience. Lastly, the tradition of the costumes of the women from Scanno, a journey back in time.
Typical dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Scanno - Bugnara (37 km; +613 mt)
After breakfast, you will depart for Anversa degli Abruzzi leaving the Lake through the splendid Gorges of Sagittarius. The journey allows to meet Villalago and Lake San Domenico to visit the hermitage. After passing Anversa (an outdoor filming set) and admiring Castrovalva from above (where Maurits Cornelis Escher lived), you will head towards the stage ending: Bugnara being able to visit the WWF oasis first. Arrival at the Residence. Taste dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Bugnara - Corfinio (33 km; +482 mt)
The start of the day reserves the first of today's villages: Introdacqua. You will then travel to Sulmona, the capital of Valle Peligna, with a monumental historic centre and much to visit starting from the Roman aqueduct and Piazza Garibaldi (the palio venue) from where in the distance you will admire Pacentro, another among the most beautiful villages in Italy. The route then continues to Pratola Peligna, passing by the splendid Abbey of Santo Spirito al Morrone, headquarters of the Majella National Park, and from there to Corfinio. Perhaps not everyone knows that Corfinio (Corfinium in ancient times, then Pentima in the Roman period and Valva in the Middle Ages), a small centre of just a thousand souls located in the Peligna valley near the Aterno, was Italy's first capital, over 2000 years ago. Yes, because the concept of Italy originates far earlier than we might believe. Visit the wonderful Church of San Pelino. Departure with possible transport to the nearest station.
