Description

Day 1: Geneva
Individual arrival in Geneva and hotel check-in. Take some free time to discover this elegant city: Geneva is a hotspot for international organizations, finance and culture, combining the Old World with the new, and exploring it is a pleasure. Lake Geneva, shaped like a crescent, will offer you stunning views that are worthy of being immortalized.

Day 2: Geneva – Seyssel (70 km; +740/-880 m or 63 km; +710/-840 m)
After breakfast, you'll meet a local representative for the hand-over of the bikes and gear. Today, you will cycle along the infamous Rhone River, admiring the fascinating wine villages of Dardagny and Satigny as you pass by. Continuing to pedal you will arrive at the village of Chancy, then cross the border into France. Don't miss the Fort de l’Ecluse, a fortress founded by the Savoyards built from impressive rock formations, which constitutes a natural entrance to the Rhône Valley in France, between the Vuache hills and the Jura. Today's destination is Seyssel, a small “double town” located in both Haute Savoie and the department of Ain on the Rhone River between two dams.

Day 3: Seyssel – Aix-les-Bains (46 km; +440/-440 m)
The views on today's stage will enchant you: you will pedal with the 14 peaks of the Bauges mountain range on one side, and the Mont de la Charvaz and Col-du-Chat from the other. Cliff faces seem to magically emerge from the water and the mountains surround you creating an oasis of peace. Along the way stop to admire Lake Bourget, the largest natural lake of glacial origin and the deepest in France. You will then cross the impressive site of the medieval castle of Montverran in Culoz, built on a rock in 1316: in more recent times, this castle has inspired artists of the caliber of the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. You will then pedal towards the spa town of Aix-les-Bains, known for its baths since the Roman Empire, and its numerous Roman ruins. You will also have the opportunity to take a boat to cross the lake, from Conjux to Aix-les-Bains. This option is subject to availability.

Day 4: Aix-les-Bains – Tournon/Saint-Pierre-d’Albigny (66 km; +680/-510 m or 53 km; +480/-350 m)
Today you will cycle through the heart of Savoie to Chambery, a city of art and history. Located in a wide valley between the Bauges and Chartreuse mountain ranges, at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, the old city of Chambery is one of the most remarkable in France. Along the way, you will encounter the ruins of a 10th century fortress, the Castle of Miolans, which overlooks the rich wine region of the Comba de Savoie valley (including the village of Chignin, with the remains of the 8th century stronghold and its 6 towers). The Isère River will lead you to Grésy-sur-Isère, an agricultural community inhabited by humans since the Neolithic period.

Day 5: Tournon/Saint-Pierre-d’Albigny – Annecy (56 km; +290/-270 m or 74 km; +480/-400 m)
Today you will reach Grésy-sur-Isère via Albertville, located on the Arly River near the confluence with the Isère River. Albertville hosted the 1992 Winter Olympics and also includes the medieval town of Conflans, whose buildings date back to the 14th century. The Beaufortain and Bauges mountain ranges will amaze you as you pedal towards the wonderful Lake of Annecy. The Aravis mountain range reigns over Europe's cleanest lake, and its peaks are famous for hairpin turns in the Tour de France. The magnificent city of Annecy, located at the northern tip of the lake, might remind you of Venice: numerous canals pass through the historical alpine-style borough. As you stroll, you'll come across the Palais de l’Isle, a 12th century prison on an island and symbol of the city, Annecy Castle, the 16th century Saint-Pierre Cathedral and the Love Bridge, a 20th century iron bridge.

Day 6: Annecy
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure. Opportunity to extend your stay.
