Description

Day 1: Bordeaux
Individual arrival at the Bordeaux train station or airport and taxi transfer to Le Pian-Médoc. Delivery of the bikes (if rented), information about the area and handing over of the road book, which will guide you along the route.

Day 2: Le Pian-Médoc – Moulis (25 or 40 km)
Starting from Le Pian-Médoc to Macau, the road of castles continues along the Gironde towards Margaux and Moulis: the wine and the hospitality of the locals are waiting for you! The Médoc area is well known all over the world for its many villages and castles, nestled among the vineyards. Stop at the Saint Julien's small harbour to watch the traditional boats, the gabares, which glide on the water. You will start your bike route crossing the vineyards of Margaux and Haut-Médoc, with walks among the most famous châteaus. If you go on a trip towards the estuary you can meet pleasant landscapes, with a charm that is always different depending on the season. This route will take you to the heart of the Médoc Rouge.

Day 3: Moulis – Bourg (45 km)
This route will take you to Lamarque, where you will embark for a crossing of the Gironde estuary. You will reach the magnificent citadel of Blaye, before continuing your journey on the banks of the estuary. Imposing and majestic, the citadel dominates the estuary with its 33 hectares offering a splendid view. You will cross the vineyards of the Côtes de Blaye AOC, Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur. Finally, you will pedal towards Bourg-sur-Gironde, along the Corniche Fleurie, where the presence of countless palms, roses, laurels and oaks reflects an extremely mild climate. A visit is a must because Bourg-sur-Gironde is a real architectural gem. Clinging to a rock and surrounded by walls, the village is one of the most beautiful and best preserved of the estuary.

Day 4: Bourg – Saint-Émilion (40 or 50 km)
On the way to the vineyards of Saint-Émilion, you will cross two others: Fronsac and Pomerol. Pomerol, neighbour of Saint-Emilion, is located on a small plateau to the north of Libourne. Pomerol wines are among the most appreciated in France, as in the case of the famous Petrus. This route will indeed take you to discover the best wines of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, near Château Angélus, Château Petrus, Château Cheval Blanc. Let's move on to Fronsac: this vineyard is historical and its wine was on King Louis XIV's table! On the banks of the Dordogne, among the great terroirs of Saint-Émilion, Pomerol and Fronsac combine a wonderful landscape of hills and plateaus, forming a beautiful mosaic of plots, where the vine extends infinitely. On this tour you will discover beautiful domains, surrounded by vineyards and inhabited by the growers and their families.

Day 5: Saint-Émilion (20 or 35 km)
Today, cycling through architecture and wine, you will discover the delightful medieval village located in the heart of the famous Bordeaux vineyards: Saint-Emilion. You can then reach Castillon-la-Bataille and return to the bank of the Dordogne River.

Day 6: Saint-Émilion – Bordeaux (50 km)
After passing Branne on the Dordogne River, you will reach the Roger Lapébie bike path and enjoy a wonderful bike route in the heart of natural landscapes, equipped with various refreshment points. You will thus reach Créon, a typical Bastide village of the region. You will cross the rich architectural heritage of the region made of medieval cities, farmhouses, fortified mills, abbeys and Romanesque churches. This bike lane will take you to the majestic Place de la Bourse, in the heart of Bordeaux and you will have a panoramic view of the docks, the Garonne and the stone bridge.

Day 7: Bordeaux
After breakfast, transfer to the train station or airport and end of services.
