Description

Day 1: Bordeaux
Individual arrival at the Bordeaux railway station or airport and taxi transfer to Le Pian-Médoc. Delivery of bikes (if rented), information about the area, and delivery of the road book, which will guide you along the route.

Day 2: Le Pian-Médoc – Moulis (25 or 40 km)
Starting from Le Pian-Médoc to Macau, the road of castles continues along the Gironde towards Margaux and Moulis: the wine and the hospitality of the locals are waiting for you! The area of Médoc is well known worldwide for its many villages and castles, nestled among the vineyards. Stop in the small port of Saint Julien to watch the traditional boats, the gabares, gliding on the water. You will start your bike route through the vineyards of Margaux and Haut-Médoc, with walks among the most renowned castles. If you take a trip towards the estuary you may come across delightful landscapes, always charming and different depending on the season. This itinerary takes you to the heart of the Red Médoc.

Day 3: Moulis – Bourg (45 km)
This route will take you to Lamarque, where you will board for a crossing of the Gironde estuary. You will reach the magnificent citadel of Blaye, before continuing your journey along the shores of the estuary. Imposing and majestic, the citadel dominates the 33-hectare estuary, offering a stunning view. You will cross the vineyards of Côtes de Blaye AOC, Bordeaux, and Bordeaux Supérieur. Finally, you will cycle to Bourg-sur-Gironde, along the Corniche Fleurie, where the presence of numerous palms, roses, laurels, and oaks reflects a very mild climate. A visit is a must since Bourg-sur-Gironde is a true architectural gem. Clinging to a rock and surrounded by walls, the village is one of the most beautiful and well preserved of the estuary.

Day 4: Bourg – Saint-Émilion (40  or 50 km)
On the road to reach the vineyards of Saint-Émilion, you cross another two: Fronsac and Pomerol. Pomerol, a neighbour of Saint-Emilion, is located on a small plateau north of Libourne. Pomerol's wines are among the most appreciated in France, as in the case of the famous Petrus. This route will indeed lead you to the discovery of the best wines of Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, near Château Angélus, Château Petrus, Château Cheval Blanc. So we move on to Fronsac: this vineyard is historical and its wine was on King Louis XIV's table! On the banks of the Dordogne, between the great terroirs of Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, and Fronsac marry a wonderful landscape of hills and plateaus, forming a beautiful mosaic of plots, where the vine extends to infinity. On this tour, you will discover beautiful domains, surrounded by vineyards and inhabited by growers and their families.

Day 5: Saint-Émilion – Bordeaux (50 km)
After passing Branne on the Dordogne River, you will reach the Roger Lapébie bicycle path and enjoy a wonderful bike ride in the heart of natural landscapes, equipped with several refreshment points. You will reach Créon, a typical Bastide village of the region. You will cross the rich architectural heritage of the region made up of medieval towns, farmhouses, fortified mills, abbeys, and Romanesque churches. This track will take you to the majestic Place de la Bourse, in the heart of Bordeaux, and you will have a panoramic view of the docks, the Garonne, and the stone bridge.

Day 6: Bordeaux
After breakfast, transfer to the station or the airport and end of services.
