Description

Day 1: Santiago do Cacém
Upon your arrival in Algarve, a private transfer will accompany you to your accommodation in Santiago do Cacém, an ancient town dominated by the castle of Moorish origins.

Day 2: Santiago do Cacém – Cercal do Alentejo (41 km; +531 m)
The itinerary of this first day of cycling will lead you through rolling countryside and cork oak forests, one of the main features of this beautiful region, along with the typical black pig, which is easy to meet along the way. An interesting mosaic of biodiversity awaits you, made up of olive groves, orchards, small ponds, streams, and beautiful rock formations. The final destination of the day is a typical town of the Alentejo, rich in traditional architecture. You can explore its historic center by strolling through the dense maze of streets and alleyways, tasting the excellent local products, and enjoying traditional handicrafts.

Day 3: Cercal do Alentejo – Odemira (46 km; +741 m)
Today's route first crosses a low-density agricultural area and then moves on more mountainous terrain, offering you spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. You can enjoy a coffee break in São Luís before continuing to Odemira, another picturesque town with many cafes and some excellent restaurants, named after the nearby Mira river, once an important communication route with the rest of the region. The town of Odemira is now an important commercial centre, but it still retains much of its old charm, thanks to the steep streets that lead to the remains of the castle walls.

Day 4: Odemira – Odeceixe (36 km; +589 m)
Leaving the city of Odemira following the Mira river, you start cycling on the road to São Teotónio through picturesque countryside, reaching the charming town of Odeceixe, located on the border between Alentejo and Algarve, which, with its white houses and the old windmill, is a real feast for the eyes. It is a fascinating place where the river flows into the Atlantic and green meadows lead to the rugged coast. Have your camera at hand!

Day 5: Odeceixe – Carrapateira (54 km; +760 m)
A steep climb leads from Odeceixe to an entirely flat route along the irrigation channels leading to Aljezur, where it is worth visiting the castle overlooking the old town. Once you reach the coast south of Aljezur, the path becomes more undulated before heading inland through Bordeira and Carrapateira, a charming fishing and farming village where you can live and breathe the authenticity of the place.

Day 6: Carrapateira
Carrapateira is the ideal place to spend some free time. From the nearby peninsula of Pontal da Carrapateira, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the cliffs and cliff faces plunging into the Atlantic and, on clear days, you can see the lighthouse of Sagres in the distance (your final destination), while to the north, beyond Bordeira beach and sand dunes, you can observe the numerous local surfers in action, and you might even be tempted to join them!

Day 7: Carrapateira – Cabo de São Vicente (36 km; +395 m)
A short, steep climb will take you from Carrapateira to the top of the ridge, where you can enjoy more breathtaking views before descending into the river valley, where a pleasant track will lead you to the restored ancient village of Pedralva, worth a stop. Some undulating sandy paths through the pines will follow as you head towards Vila do Bispo, and finally, the itinerary will take you to the coast and the endpoint of the route, Cabo de São Vicente.

Day 8: Cabo de São Vicente
After breakfast, a private transfer will pick you up from your accommodation.
