The Mittelland Route for families

Day 1: Arrival in Solothurn
The tour starts immediately upon arrival in Solothurn, one of the most beautiful medieval centres where a small city awaits you at the foot of Weissenstein. If you wish, you can visit Verena Gorge, where a hermit leads a secluded life.

Day 2: Solothurn – Meienried (20 Km)
Today a wonderful stretch awaits you: the tour will take you to Solothurn, the most beautiful baroque city in Switzerland. After a walk on the charming promenade along the river, you will cycle to Meienried to the Käser family farm where you will have the opportunity to sleep in the hay. Near the farm, you can see a branch of the old Aare with an observation tower for bird lovers.

Day 3: Meienried – Nidau near Biel (15 Km)
After spending the night in Meienried, you will set off again on the saddle towards the Aare River. This river has been tamed in this specific section with the Nidau-Buren canal. In fact, today you can see some power stations and dams. Following the river's course by bike, you will reach Lake Biel. There you can camp for the night at the Nidau harbour and in the evening you can walk to the centre of Biel/Bienne.

Day 4: Nidau near Biel – Ins, (35 Km)
From Nidau, you will set off for the fourth stage of the tour across expanses of vegetation that dominate in Seeland. Since the Aare River was tamed, this particular area is known as the "granary of the country". You will continue pedalling along the Mittelland route, until you reach the shores of Lake Biel. Afterwards, you can take short breaks in small villages with restaurants and lidos situated along the route.

Day 5: Ins – Murten (15 Km)
The day starts with a decisive choice to reach Murten: either take the direct route or the scenic one on Mont Vully. Today's destination is the small town of Murten which still has the intact and walkable walls, allowing you to explore them and take a tour around the village.

Day 6: Murten – Estavayer-le-Lac (30 Km)
The last tour will take you to the shores of Lake Neuchâtel. A spectacular area where you can admire wide bands of reeds extending across the whole area. The tour pedals towards the end of the holiday, but you can visit small fishing villages like Chevroux or Portalban. The penultimate stop is the stilt house of Gletterens, where stone age huts have been reconstructed and finally, you will visit the medieval city of Estavayer-le-Lac which marks the end of your bike ride.

Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, end of services.
