Description

Day 1: Kalavarda
Individual arrival in Rhodes. Private transfer from the airport to the first hotel. If time allows and bikes are already available, there is a brief afternoon cycle excursion around the hotel or to the beach.

Day 2: Kalavarda (37 km; +/-440 m)
The first stage of your Rhodes bike tour takes you from the village of Kalavarda along the wild north-western coast of the island. Running along the sea, you will reach the ancient city-state of Kamiros, which you can stop to visit immediately, or on your way back. A nice opportunity for a coffee break will be offered by the typical kafenion in Mandriko, right next to the beautiful village church. Overcoming a small hill, you will then descend towards the small fishing port of Skala Kamiros, from where the small ferries leave for the island of Chalki. From Skala, take a short loop to reach the medieval fortress of Kritinia, from whose immense walls you can enjoy a splendid view. You then return to Skala and follow the same route back to Kalavarda. In the last stretch of the road, you pass four taverns, perfect for a drink on the beach. Return to the hotel and dinner included.

Day 3: Kalavarda – Petaloudes – Rhodes (43 km; +/-385 m)
Cycling north along the coast, you will reach Fanes, a wonderful village made unique by its colourful houses. The itinerary then continues towards Petaloudes Valley, the Valley of the Butterflies, so-called because this natural paradise, between late June and mid-September, is populated by thousands of butterflies. Crossing a wooded area, you will first arrive at Maritsa and, continuing northwards, at Pastida, where you will find excellent taverns. Finally, you will enter the historic center of Rhodes by bike: your hotel is located within the walls.

Day 4: Rhodes (6 or 23 km +/- 500 m)
Today you can choose to take a walking tour in the historic center of Rhodes, which will lead you to discover not only the main monuments, but also the most hidden and surprising corners. If you prefer to paddle, you can take the ferry and take a bike ride on the picturesque island of Symi. You will reach the Monastery of Panormitis, on the southern coast, then cross the island to the town of Symi: a tour of about twenty kilometers and an altitude difference of 500 meters. In the late afternoon, return to Rhodes by ferry.

Day 5: Rhodes – Archangellos (39 km; +375/-200 m)
Your bike tour of Rhodes today takes you cycling along the east coast, where you will encounter the ancient Turkish baths of Kalithea, which have been beautifully restored. At Afandou, you will cycle along peaceful beaches, in the background the view of the Monastery of Tsambika, built on top of a cliff 300 meters high. The final destination of the day is the lively village of Archangellos, where you will spend the night.

Day 6: Archangellos – Lindos – Archangellos (52 km; +/-470 m)
Today you can decide whether to cycle to the beach of Stegna, where you can spend a day at sea, or visit the village of Lindos, reachable by bike or bus. Lindos is a beautiful village of white houses crowned by the ancient Acropolis, which preserves the remains of ancient temples inside a medieval fortress, which you can visit after parking your bikes at the entrance of the village.

Day 7: Archangellos – Kalavarda (40 km; +500/-650 m)
On this last stage of your bike tour of Rhodes, you will first pedal towards Epta Piges, the Forest of the Seven Springs, a natural area of extraordinary peace and beauty, to then continue towards the Monastery of Agios Nektarios, which is reached by going up a green valley. Along the route you will encounter Eleousa, an extraordinary village built about eighty years ago by the Italians and now almost completely abandoned. A wide road that runs along the slopes of the mountain will take you to the oldest Byzantine chapel on the island of Rhodes: Fountoukli. From here you go down to the western coast, cross the village of Dimilia, pass in front of the Silas Chapel, built inside a cave, and reach Soroni, from where you continue along the coast to Kalavarda.

Day 8: Kalavarda
After breakfast, private transfer to the airport and individual departure.
