Description

Day 1: Enkhuizen
Individual arrival in Enkhuizen. Boarding starts from 2:00 pm close to the center of the beautiful town of Enkhuizen and near the railway station. Meet for a welcome drink with the skipper who will provide useful information about the itinerary, the boat, and life on board. In the evening, you can enjoy a pleasant walk in the historic center of Enkhuizen, once the headquarters of the Dutch merchant fleet. Overnight on board.

Day 2: Enkhuizen – Medemblik (24 or 37 km) l Medemblik – Den Over – Texel by boat
This morning awaits the first short stage by bike and sailboat along the Ijsselmeer coast and through the picturesque polder landscape to reach Medemblik. After getting back on board, the boat will set sail for Den Oever. If the weather allows, in the evening, the boat will cross the Wadden Sea to reach Texel Island, the largest of the Frisian Islands.

Day 3: Texel – Circular tour from Oudeschild (40 or 46 km)
Texel Island is a dream destination for all cyclists due to the variety of landscapes, well-signed cycle paths, and picturesque villages. Our advice is to take a circular bike tour of the largest island in Northern Holland following the Thijsse-route (about 40 km) to visit some beautiful villages and reach EcoMare where various marine animals, particularly seals, grey seals, and porpoises are cared for until they fully recover. Arriving at the Oudeschild port, a traditional brewery awaits you.

Day 4: Texel Island – Terschelling Island (5 or 6 hours of navigation)
If the weather and tides are favorable today, the boat will set sail to reach in the afternoon another of the Frisian Islands: the island of Terschelling. We will move between the sandbanks of the Wadden Sea and if you're lucky, you will see seals resting on these banks. Upon arriving at Terschelling, you will be struck by the charm of picturesque villages scattered among the polders and dunes in its 30 km of length. Tonight dinner won't be served on board to allow you to explore the island: you could try a local restaurant (not included) or prepare a picnic.

Day 5: Terschelling Island – Free day by bike | Terschelling – Harlingen by boat
After a day of sailing, it's time for a day dedicated to the bike. Terschelling has much to offer in terms of nature and culture: 70 km of cycling paths and 4 beautiful villages; in the western part of the island, you will find the largest of these which offers shops and pubs. The Brandaris, the oldest lighthouse in the Netherlands dating back to 1594, welcomes visitors from afar. A good relationship between humans and nature has created a varied panorama here, which includes coastlines, marshes formed by the low tide, and forests; in particular, the Boschplaat nature reserve hosts unique species of plants, butterflies, and huge bird colonies. Once back on board, you can enjoy deserved relaxation while the boat, in the late afternoon, crosses the Wadden Sea towards Harlingen, the most important port city of the Frisian Islands.

Day 6: Harlingen – Franeker – Makkum (48 or 58 km)
Passing through Franeker, renowned for the Eise Eisinga Planetarium, you will travel through the beautiful, green countryside and some villages until you reach Makkum, on the eastern shore of Lake Ijssel. If you choose the longer option, you will also visit Bolsward, one of the eleven cities of the Frisian Islands.

Day 7: Makkum – Stavoren (32 or 49 km) l Stavoren – Enkhuizen by boat
Today you will pedal from Makkum to Stavoren, being able to choose between a shorter route that crosses Hindeloopen or a longer one that skirts some of the Frisian Islands’ lakes, allowing you to discover a different kind of landscape. From there, you will continue by boat to Enkhuizen.

Day 8: Enkhuizen
Disembarkation before 09.30, after breakfast and end of services.
Individual departure or extension of stay.
