Description

Day 1: Enkhuizen - Medemblik
Boarding and check-in from 2:00 PM (from 4:00 PM for the May 4 departure) near the beautiful center of Enkhuizen, which is also easily accessible from the railway station. Once check-in is completed, the captain will welcome us on board and introduce us to our floating hotel, providing an overview of the week and all necessary safety instructions. After the initial briefing, the ship will set sail for the first destination of the week: the historic town of Medemblik. After dinner, the tour leaders will take us on a delightful walk through this charming village, which is known today for its vibrant sailing culture.

Day 2: Medemblik (28 or 40 km) | Sail from Medemblik – Den Oever – Texel
In the morning, after adjusting the bicycles, we will set off on our first cycling adventure. Depending on preferences, we will divide into two groups: one will follow a longer route, the other a shorter route. Both routes will take us to the picturesque town of Twisk, a former mining village preserved in impeccable historical condition. After the bike tour, the ship will continue its journey towards Texel, the largest Dutch island in the North Sea. Note: if the weather conditions are unfavorable, we will spend the night in Den Oever.

Day 3: Texel - Oudeschild - Texel (43 or 49 km)
The island of Texel is a real paradise for cyclists, with its varied landscapes, picturesque villages, and dedicated bike paths. Our guides will accompany us on a tour of the island, including a visit to the seal rescue station "Ecomare". This foundation is dedicated to caring for and protecting birds and seals and educating visitors about the local ecosystem.

Day 4: Texel - Terschelling (5-6 hours on the ship)
Today will be entirely dedicated to sailing. The captain and the sailor will introduce us to the art of sailing as we cross the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As we glide between the sand dunes, keep an eye out for the seals that love to rest on the sandbanks. During the navigation, we will enjoy lunch on board. In the afternoon, we will land on the island of Terschelling, characterized by numerous picturesque villages among the polder and the dunes that stretch for 30 km. Tonight you can dine in one of the local restaurants (not included).

Day 5: Terschelling (42 km) | Sail from Terschelling – Harlingen
Yesterday was all about sailing; today will be all about cycling. Terschelling offers cyclists an incredible variety of nature and culture, with 70 km of bike paths and four charming villages. The largest village, West Terschelling, boasts numerous shops and cozy pubs. The Brandaris lighthouse, with its 400 years, is an unmissable landmark. Another must-visit spot is the Boschplaat nature reserve, ideal for spotting colonies of spoonbills and herring gulls. In the afternoon, our journey will continue towards Harlingen, the most important port city in the Friesland region.

Day 6: Harlingen - Franeker - Makkum (48 or 58 km)
Today we will cycle through historic Franeker, where we will visit the Eise Eisinga Planetarium, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will then continue through the rural Frisian landscape to the small port of Makkum, on the eastern shore of Lake IJsselmeer. Those who opt for the longer route will also stop in Bolsward, one of the eleven Frisian cities.

Day 7: Makkum - Stavoren (32 or 49 km) | Sail back to Enkhuizen
After the stop in Makkum, the bike tour will take us to Stavoren. The shorter route will pass through Hindeloopen, an ancient trading city known for its traditional decorative art and the first Frisian ice-skating museum. The longer route will show us a different landscape, through various Frisian lakes. In the afternoon, the ship will depart from Stavoren to cross Lake IJsselmeer and return to Enkhuizen.

Day 8: Enkhuizen
End of the tour: disembarkation will take place after breakfast, by 9:30 AM.
