Description

Day 1: Špindlerův Mlýn
Individual arrival in Špindlerův Mlýn.

Day 2: Špindlerův Mlýn - Dvůr Králové (50 Km)
The day begins with a ride on a cable car, up to the peaks of the Giant Mountains National Park. Here, at an elevation of 1,212 meters above sea level, the Elbe Cycle Route begins with a stretch on the promontory. You will then cycle to Vrchlabí (with an elevation difference of over 700 meters), a city located at the foot of the mountains, then continue to Hostinné, where we recommend you take a look at the two giants at the town hall and their fascinating history. The Les Království reservoir is not only named after a fairytale (Forest of the Kingdom), but its dam is also an impressively architectural gem. You will finally arrive at Dvůr Králové nad Labem, the first royal city on your route.

Day 3: Dvůr Králové – Hradec Králové (40 Km)
Most of today's stage will take place on beautiful paved bike paths. Absolutely worth visiting is the exclusive Baroque hospital in Kuks, with the famous statues of virtues and vices by Matthias Bernard Braun. In 2013, a brand-new cycle path was opened connecting Kuks with Hradec Králové, allowing the route to pass the old Theresian fortress in Jaroměř. Together with the famous architecture of Josef Gočár, in Hradec Králové, near the city's historic center, Kuks and Jaroměř represent the historical points of interest of this day. We recommend you explore Hradec Králové, to experience this modern and vibrant city, once the city of the Bohemian kings.

Day 4: Hradec Králové – Pardubice (22 km)
Today's stage will lead you to Pardubice, the gingerbread city: here you will have time to visit the castle on Kunetitz Mountain (Kunětická Hora). In Pardubice, you will be enchanted by the city's historic center, which has been declared a heritage conservation district.

Day 5: Pardubice – Kutná Hora (54 Km)
Today's longest stage will take you to Kutná Hora, one of the 12 UNESCO cities in the Czech Republic. Along the way, you can visit the Kladruby national stud farm, which began breeding horses for almost all royal courts in the 16th century. In the afternoon, you'll arrive at Kutná Hora, the medieval gem of this tour. Here you can admire well-preserved buildings such as St. Barbara's Church, the Sedlec Ossuary with its 30,000 human remains, the Italian Court, and the Silver Museum.

Day 6: Kutná Hora – Nymburk (56 Km)
Following the Elbe River, the route will take you to the historic towns of Kolín, Poděbrady, and Nymburk, which you'll reach on comfortable bike paths. Poděbrady was the birthplace of George of Poděbrady, Utraquist King of Bohemia, who in the 15th century proposed forming a European federation; you'll find his statue in the city center. From Poděbrady, you'll head to Nymburk: here, the Elbe bike path leads along the riverbank, allowing you to fully enjoy the surrounding landscape. Nymburk, another royal city on your route, will welcome you with its majestic defensive wall, made of baked clay bricks, as no other source of stone was available. In the city, you can visit a legendary brewery, well-known to local enthusiasts.

Day 7: Nymburk – Prague (60 Km)
Following the course of the Elbe, you'll arrive at Brandýs nad Labem. In this town's castle, Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria, King Frederick William III of Prussia, and Tsar Alexander I of Russia met to plan their offensive against Napoleon. But more importantly, for all of Czech history, was the murder of St. Wenceslas in the year 929, which occurred near the church door in nearby Stará Boleslav. The day will end in Prague, where you can soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the Czech capital.

Day 8: Prague
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
