Description

Day 1: Passau – Engelhartszell
Individual arrival at Passau, a charming city located at the junction of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers, also known as The city of the three rivers. We recommend a visit to St. Stephen's Cathedral, which houses the world's largest organ. If you have time, take the opportunity to see one of the concerts held there;it is an acoustic experience that you will not forget easily. Boarding at 4.00 pm. Around 6.00 pm, the first leg of Danube navigation, towards Engelhartszell begins. Dinner and overnight stay on board.

Day 2: Engelhartszell – Aschach (42 km)
Our first bicycle leg starts in the classic and evocative scenery of the spectacular Schlögen loop, one of the most beautiful sections of the Danube. This is an extremely charming area, where the river takes a U-turn, amidst a valley dotted with vibrant small villages. In Austria's only Trappist monastery, Engelhartszell, we can sample the delightful liquors and cheeses produced by the monks themselves. You'll find the boat waiting for you in Aschach. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 3: Devin – Bratislava (43 km)
Today's bicycle route will take us along the Iron Curtain, the imaginary line that, during the Cold War, divided Eastern Europe, under the influence of the Soviet Union, from Western Europe, influenced by the United States. The Danube cycle path will lead us to the beautiful Hof Imperial Palace, with its terraced gardens and the suggestive 17th-century residence, hunting residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy. After crossing Europe's largest and cleanest floodplain, we will arrive in Bratislava, at the foot of the Carpathian mountains. At this point, we can opt to continue with a sightseeing tour of Bratislava, with a guided tour (not included) to discover the treasures of the old town: the castle, St. Martin's Gothic Cathedral, or the old town hall. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 4: Round tour Budapest – Szentendre – Budapest (54 km), or free day
The morning will pass while sailing gently through the bends of the Danube, before entering Budapest. The entrance into the city, where many of the main tourist attractions are located directly along the river, is spectacular. We may visit the city by taking advantage of a guided bike or bus tour (not included), or alternatively, continue by bike to Szentendre, an ancient Roman stronghold now a pleasant tourist location with an active artistic life. The city is permeated by a warm Mediterranean atmosphere. At the end of the day, we may choose to participate in a typical evening to experience local folklore (not included). Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 5: Bend of the Danube – Esztergom (43 km)
Today's leg will take us cycling through the Hungarian Wachau, a valley with truly unique landscapes and perfect for exploring by bike. Later we will reach the characteristic episcopal town of Esztergom, famous for housing the largest Catholic church in Hungary. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 6: Free day in Vienna
Today we have a full day at our disposal to explore the Austrian capital and savor the unique atmosphere of the ancient imperial city. We can discover it by bike or on a bus (not included), visit St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Prater, a large amusement park, or the Hofburg complex, which was the center of Austrian power for more than six centuries. Finally, we recommend a walk along the Ringstrasse, a long boulevard where some of the city's most important buildings and monuments are located: the National Theater (Staatsoper), the parliament, the Burgtheater. In the afternoon there will be plenty of time to relax in one of Vienna's many cafes, and in the evening, we may choose to attend a concert or a waltz in the Wiener Kursalon or in a typical local venue (not included). Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 7: Wachau/Krems – Melk (39 km)
Today a magnificent bicycle stage awaits us. Indeed, the area around the Danube alternates timeless small villages, apricot trees, vineyards, castles, monasteries, and ruins on the hills. We will certainly be enchanted by this fairytale landscape which will be a real pleasure to pedal in. We will cross the Baroque town of Dürnstein, whose castle once imprisoned Richard the Lionheart, while in Spitz we can stop to taste one of the many regional wines in one of the typical taverns directly on the bike path. Dinner and overnight stay on board.

Day 8: Passau
On the last day of our tour, during the morning, we can enjoy the first rays of sunshine from the deck of the ship, immersed in the peace of the Danube Valley. A final leg of navigation will bring us back, completely relaxed, to Passau. Disembarkation from around 11:00 am. We recommend that you plan your return journey, with departures from 12:00 pm onwards.
