Description

Day 1: Passau
Individual arrival at Passau, the city of three rivers whose St. Stephen's Cathedral houses the largest organ in the world. If you get the chance, take advantage to attend one of the concerts held here; it is an acoustic experience that you will not easily forget. The boarding at 4 PM, then, you will start a first stretch of navigation at sunset.

Day 2: Engelhatszell – Brandstatt (45 km)
In the morning, breathe in the scent of the forest and freshly mown grass. Today you will discover the pristine landscapes of the Upper Danube Valley and the tranquil villages that nap on its banks. The rustic inns that you will encounter on your journey, smelling of grilled fresh fish and served, according to tradition, skewered on a stick, will invite you to enter. A stop at Schlögener Blick is a must: the panoramic point that dominates from above the Schlögener Schlinge, offers a breathtaking view of the extraordinary loop of the Danube.

Day 3: Brandstatt – Linz (26 km)
Again today you will breathe the fresh air of the countryside and at lunchtime you will reach Linz, the capital of the Upper Danube Valley. A city with a lively cultural life and rich in theaters and museums. The cathedral is the largest church in Austria and if you are passionate about technological avant-garde, do not miss the Ars Electronica Center, with its Museum of the Future.

Day 4: Mathausen – Grein (35 km)
A beautiful and varied bike route will lead you to explore the idyllic interior of the Strudengrau region; you will cross the Celtic village of Metterkirchen, the baroque Baumgartenberg monastery, and the romantic ruins of Burg Clam Castle. In the medieval city of Grein, you can admire its baroque facades, the imposing castle, and Austria's oldest theater. After a romantic boat trip with a view of the city and the small villages, at dawn, you will reach, just like Princess Sissi, the city of the Walzer.

Day 5: Tulln – Vienna (35 km)
Right in front of Vienna's entrance, immersed in a breathtaking scenario, the Klosterneuburg monastery is located. You can already see the dome of this baroque building dating back to the XX century. “Kahlenbergerdorf” with its taverns is just a jump from the shipping pier and definitely worth a visit. After a relaxing walk among the vineyards, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Vienna. In the afternoon you will go on a city bus tour to see the numerous and famous attractions of the historic center of the Austrian capital that you can explore on foot.

Day 6: Free day in Vienna
Today you will have a whole day to discover the Austrian capital, savoring the unique atmosphere of the ancient imperial city. You can explore it by bike or by bus (not included), visit St. Stephen's Cathedral, the large amusement park Prater, or the Hofburg complex, which was the center of Austrian power for more than six centuries. Finally, don't miss a walk on the Ringstrasse, a long avenue where some of the city's most important buildings and monuments overlook: the National Theater (Staatsoper), the parliament, the Burgtheater. In the afternoon you will have all the time to rest in one of the many Viennese cafes, and perhaps, attend an evening concert or a waltz in the Wiener Kursalon or in a typical local place (not included).

Day 7: Wachau Valley/ Krems – Melk (39 km)
You will spend a wonderful day in the picturesque Wachau Valley, pedaling between villages surrounded by terraced vineyards and apricot plantations. One of the jewels of the day will be the charming town of Dürnstein, with its narrow streets. In Spitz, located in the largest wine area of the valley, you can taste the excellent wines of the Wachau.

Day 8: Passau
Enjoy the first rays of sunshine, one last time from the boat deck, before arriving at Passau. Disembarkation around 11 AM. However, we advise not to book trains departing before 12 PM.
