Description

Day 1: Passau
Prepare to experience the enchanting Mediterranean charm of the city of three rivers, Passau. After our arrival, we will spend some time exploring the baroque old town: let yourself be captivated by its narrow alleys and the majestic Passau Cathedral, home to the largest church organ in the world. Boarding the ship will take place between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Our cycling adventure will begin with a romantic boat trip, during which we will leave behind the postcard scenery of Passau as the sun sets.
Day 2: Engelhartszell - Brandstatt (45 km)
We will breathe in the scent of dense forests and freshly cut meadows. We will cycle through the unspoiled nature of the Upper Danube Valley along the old towpath, which passes through sleepy villages. The small rustic inns along the way will invite us to stop, with the tempting aroma of freshly grilled fish prepared according to local tradition. The Schlögener Blick viewpoint will offer us a breathtaking view of the Schlögener Schlinge, where the Danube carves a gorge and loops back on itself.
Day 3: Brandstatt - Linz (24 km)
We will take one last breath of fresh country air before reaching, around noon, the capital of Upper Austria, Linz. During a guided walk through the picturesque old town, we will discover its enchanting charm. The cathedral is the largest church in Austria, and the Pöstlingbergbahn is the steepest adhesion railway in the world. Curious to discover the future? At the "ARS Electronica Museum," we will have the chance to personally experience impressive examples of modern technologies. A must-see!
Day 4: Tulln - Vienna (31 km)
Not far from the entrance to Vienna, immersed in a breathtaking setting, we will find the Klosterneuburg Monastery. Even from a distance, we will be able to spot the dome of this 900-year-old baroque building. "Kahlenbergerdorf," with its wine taverns, is a stone's throw from the pier and is definitely worth a visit. After a walk among the vineyards, we can enjoy a panoramic view of Vienna. In the afternoon, with a bus tour of the city, we will pass by most of the numerous famous attractions, and we will also have a guided walking tour of the historic center of the Austrian capital (optional).
Day 5: Vienna (rest day)
During a tour of Vienna, all the beauties will be at our fingertips either from the saddle of our bicycle or from the HOP ON HOP OFF bus (optional). The magnificent Ringstraße will take us back in time, and the inviting cafes will tempt us with delicious cakes and Viennese pastries, while the Naschmarkt will be a feast for all the senses. We can end the evening in style with a waltz and operetta concert at Sissi's summer residence (optional).
Day 6: Wachau | Krems - Melk (37 km)
An unforgettable day in the picturesque Wachau region. We will pedal through delightful wine villages surrounded by terraced vineyards and apricot trees. The charming town of Dürnstein, with its narrow streets, will be one of the absolute highlights. In Spitz, one of the most famous wine villages of the World Cultural Heritage site, we will have the opportunity to discover the renowned wines of the Wachau.
Day 7: Grein - Mauthausen (36 km)
A beautiful and diverse route awaits us, offering a wide range of experiences! Starting from the medieval town of Grein (where we can visit Austria's oldest theater, optional), we will cycle through the picturesque hinterland of the Strudengau region. With a bit of luck, we may be personally guided through the romantic Clam Castle by the castle's lord. Additionally, we will take a trip back in time to the Celtic Village at Mitterkirchen. The Mauthausen Memorial, a commemorative site of a World War II concentration camp, is located on a hill near the town.
Day 8: Passau
Let's enjoy the last rays of sun and the morning tranquility from the ship's deck before reaching Passau/surroundings again, with our hearts full of memories. Disembarkation will take place around 11:00 a.m. We recommend not planning for any connecting departures before 12:00 p.m. For safety, even later departure times would be better.
