Description

Day 1: Ennis – County Clare
Individual arrival at the Bed&Breakfast in Ennis, where you can collect your rented bicycles and information materials about your tour. Take advantage of the lively and relaxed atmosphere in Ennis; it's the perfect place to listen to (and dance to!) Irish music.

Day 2: Ennis – Spanish Point (48 km)
After a short test ride on your bicycles, you will set off to explore western Clare, cycling along quiet rural roads through gentle green hills. Your destination for the day is the small village of Spanish Point, named after the shipwreck of several Spanish ships which sank here in 1588. Overnight in a hotel with views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 3: Spanish Point – Doolin (46 km)

Cycling along quiet roads, you will reach Lahinch, the most dynamic seaside resort in the county, famous especially for its beautiful beach ideal for surfing. Here you can stop for lunch. In the afternoon you will visit the famous Cliffs of Moher, spectacular cliffs that rise up to 214 meters above the Ocean, where you can take a walk while enjoying the wonderful view of the Atlantic brushed by the flight of birds. After visiting the cliffs, you will head to the beautiful fairytale village of Doolin. In the evening you can dine in one of the many pubs famous for engaging impromptu sessions of Irish music.

Day 4: Doolin – Ballyvaughan (50 km)
In the morning you will begin to see the first signs of the typical limestone landscape of County Burren. You will also visit the monastic site of Kilfenora with its tall stone crosses, home of the Burren Centre, where you will find an interesting overview of the geological formation and history of the County. Later, you can stop for lunch in Lisdoonvarna, famous for its Match-making Festival, a legacy from when the area's farmers, once the harvests were finished, came to town to find wives during a music, dance and beer festival. The beautiful afternoon route instead runs along the coast with Galway Bay and the Aran Islands on one side and the limestone cliffs of Burren on the other. You will stay for two nights in a comfortable seafront hotel in the village of Ballyvaughan.

Day 5:  Ballyvaughan
There are many activities that you can choose to spend the day. You can go on a walking tour of Burren guided by a fun local character, a living encyclopedia with exceptional knowledge of the area. Alternatively, you may opt for a short bike tour to the ruins of a Cistercian Abbey, or visit the Ailwee Caves. Unless you prefer to spend the day relaxing on the shores of Galway Bay.

Day 6: Ballyvaughan – Kinvara (38 km)
Today's bike itinerary will take you straight to the heart of Burren, where you will visit the most photographed archaeological site in Ireland, the Dolmen of Poulnabrone, an ancient burial site dating back to 2500 BC Continuing off the beaten track, you will stop in the village of Carran and lunch in an old police barracks. In the afternoon, cycling along quiet secondary roads, you will reach the Burren Perfumery, which you can visit to discover the essences produced here using local flora. Cycling through a lunar landscape, you will finally reach the colorful village of Kinvara, where you'll spend the night.

Day 7: Kinvara – Ennis (49 km)
On this last day of cycling, you will again head inland, passing by the typical lunar landscapes, Lough Buny Lake and Mullaghmore, before stopping for lunch in Corafin. In the afternoon, at Dysert O’Dea, you will visit a fortified tower house dating back to the 16th century and an even older monastic site. Here took place the famous battle of Dysert O’Dea in 1318 where the Irish defeated the Normans preventing them from conquering County Clare for the next 200 years. You will finally return to Ennis, where you will spend your last night.

Day 8: Ennis
After breakfast, services end and individual departures.
