Description

Day 1: Palazzolo Acreide
Individual arrival at Palazzolo Acreide, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, a true jewel of Baroque Sicily, declared, together with seven other cities in the Val di Noto, a World Heritage site for its magnificent architecture. Handing over of informative material and bicycles (if rented).

Day 2: Palazzolo Acreide – Ragusa Ibla – Modica (58 Km)
Prior to saddling up, we recommend a visit to Palazzolo Acreide, where you can stroll through the characteristic streets of the medieval part of the city and admire the Church of San Paolo, a perfect example of Sicilian Baroque. Today's bike ride will take you, first to the Ibleos territory, at times barren and wild, but also rich in parks and nature reserves, then to Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can then continue to Ragusa Ibla, one of the most beautiful cities in the Val di Noto, situated on a hill with a panoramic view. Finally heading down towards Modica, the panorama will feature gentle hills with sparse vegetation and cultivated fields, delimited by characteristic dry-stone fences, which traditionally defined properties. The stage has a 3 km uphill stretch.

Day 3: Modica – Pozzallo (42 Km)
Before leaving Modica, don't forget to visit this aristocratic town situated on a hill: discover the magnificent Cathedral of San Giorgio and try the typical Modican chocolate, handcrafted according to the ancient Aztec recipe brought to Sicily by the Spaniards. Today you will bike in a slight downhill, reaching the monumental town of Scicli. We recommend a visit to the center with Piazza Italia, the monuments and other buildings such as the Church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo, which overlooks the town. The déjà vu will be immediate, as Scicli is the Vigata of the TV series "Il Commissario Montalbano", and strolling through its streets, you will identify recurring locations. After the visit, cycle towards the coast to reach Pozzallo and its beautiful beaches, to end the day with a deserved refreshing swim.

Day 4: Pozzallo – Marzamemi (57 Km)
Today's stage is flat and at times runs along the sea and some of the most beautiful beaches in Sicily. You will reach the Isola delle Correnti, the most remote point of the European continent, between the Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, located at the same latitude as Tunis. Some parts inland will allow you to cross through the vineyards of the famous Nero d'Avola, which you can taste directly in the cellars where it is produced. The day ends in San Lorenzo di Marzamemi, after crossing Portopalo di Capo Passero and Marzamemi.

Day 5: Marzamemi – Noto (34 Km)
Heading north by bike, always along the coastline. Today you will cross the Vendicari Oasis, a nature reserve abundant with flora and birds that is a crucial stop, located between Africa and Europe, for the great migrations of various bird species. Then leave the coast, to reach Noto, the capital of Baroque Sicily and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight stay in Noto.

Day 6: Noto – Syracuse (41 or 58 Km)
After enjoying the typical almond granita, the pride of the city of Noto, as well as the churches and palaces, you will ride on a flat route along the coast, up to Syracuse. Allow some time to visit this city, which was the Capital of Magna Graecia with the Neapolis Archaeological Park. Treat yourself, perhaps against the backdrop of a sunset, to a stroll on the Ortigia island, the historic center of the city, where you will find centuries of history, culture and art layered. As soon as you cross the Umbertino bridge, you will feel as if you were in Magna Graecia.

Day 7: Syracuse
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
