Description

Day 1: Salzburg
Individual arrival in the city of Mozart, Salzburg, home to one of the most important classicial music and opera festivals. The winding alleys and squares invite you to take a stroll and the cosy cafes offer authentic Austrian specialties. Literally, every step takes you through culture and history!

Day 2: Salzburg – Golling (30 km)
Your bike tour on the Alpe Adria Radweg begins in Salzburg and continues through the shady plains of Salzach along the river. You will cycle up to Hallein, with its romantic old town, small alleys and precious houses. The main attraction, however, is the famous Celtic museum: you will discover the ancient richness of Hallein due to its salt mines. Along the river, you will reach the waterfall, the beautiful market square and the 13th century fortress in Golling, where you will stay overnight.

Day 3: Golling – St. Johann (35 km)
From Golling to Pass Lueg, enjoy the view of the beautiful mountain range Tennengebirge: you will not even notice the slight uphill! You get close to the Salzach river and the powerful roar of its waters. Pass the so-called Salzach-Öfen, an imposing canyon cut by the river through the Alps. Once past Werfen and Hohenwerfen fortress, you will reach St. Johann, where you will stay overnight. Characteristic are the twin bell towers of Pongau cathedral.

Day 4: St. Johann – Mölltal (60 km)
Shortly after Schwarzach im Pongau you will leave the Salzach and cross the wild and romantic Gastein Valley. Passing through Dorfgastein and Bad Hofgastein, you will cycle up to the renowned spa and winter sports resort of Bad Gastein, at the foot of the High Tauern, which offers a wide variety of natural history and architectural monuments. The waterfall, located in the center of the city, is your landmark, as it was for many artists and poets. You will reach Böckstein, where a train will take you, through the Tauernschleuse, to Mallnitz, on the other side of the Alps in just 10 minutes. Back in the saddle, enjoy the downhill ride to your hotel in the valley of Mölltal.

Day 5: Mölltal – Spittal (30 km)
Cycling along the Möll river you will cross an imposing mountain landscape. At Möllbrücke the Drautal and the sunny south of Austria begins. A pleasant bike ride will lead you to Spittal an der Drau: in the Middle Ages this town was an important crossroads for pilgrims, who have contributed to its prosperity.

Day 6: Spittal – Villach (40 km)
Today's stage will lead you slightly downhill along the Drau river. Halfway, we recommend planning a stop at Paternion, with numerous churches and palaces to see. In a short distance you reach Villach, with its beautiful old town, the charm of Carinthia and cozy pubs and restaurants.

Day 7: Villach – Venzone (60 km)
After breakfast, you will take a train to Tarvisio. From here, a cycle path in excellent condition will allow you to ride downhill in peace through Val Canale, admiring the beauty of the Friulian alpine region with its unspoiled and untouched nature and expanses of woodlands. Your day will end in one of the picturesque villages situated at the foot of the Julian Alps.

Day 8: Venzone – Udine (55 km)
Leaving Val Canale, heading south, you will encounter one of the most beautiful historic villages in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The heart of the village of Gemona del Friuli is the magnificent cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, which will leave you speechless. Along the route to Udine, you will encounter the first vineyards along the cycle path. Once you have arrived in the city, experience the dolce vita in front of a coffee enjoyed in the square or while walking in the alleys admiring the late Gothic and Renaissance architecture.

Day 9: Udine – Grado (55 km)
Immerse yourself in the warm breath of the sirocco. Today, you will cycle through vast expanses of reeds and along water channels towards the Gulf of Venice. Make a stop to visit the Roman town of Aquileia, the so-called second Rome, before reaching the final destination of your vacation along the Alpe Adria Radweg. One of the most famous seaside resorts on the Adriatic sea, the historic fishing town of Grado, will not only thrill you with its wide sandy beach, but also with its historic harbor and narrow alleys, with delicious restaurants that ooze all the Italian charm.

Day 10: Grado
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure.
