Description

Day 1: Salzburg
Individual arrival in the city of Mozart, Salzburg. The winding alleys and squares invite you to take a walk. We recommend visiting a typical café to enjoy some Austrian delicacies. Culture and history can be felt at every step: stroll through Getreidegasse, discover Mozart's birthplace or take some time to shop.

Day 2: Salzburg – Golling (30 km)
Your cycling tour begins in Salzburg and continues through the shady plains of Salzach along the river. You will cycle to Hallein, with its romantic old town, small alleys, gates and valuable houses. The main attraction is the famous Celtic museum: thus discovering the ancient wealth of Hallein due to its salt mines. Along the river, you will reach the waterfall, the beautiful market square and the 13th-century fortress in Golling, where you will stay overnight.

Day 3: Golling – St. Johann (35 km)
The mountains come closer and you pass the so-called Salzach-Öfen, an impressive canyon carved by the Salzach River through the Alps. At the foot of the Hochkönig mountain you reach Werfen: home of the world's largest ice cave. Then a last view of Hohenwerfen fortress before continuing to Bischofshofen and arriving at St. Johann, where you will stay overnight. The towers of Pongau Cathedral unmistakably rise like twin mountain peaks.

Day 4: St. Johann – Mölltal (60 km)
Shortly after Schwarzach you will leave the Salzach and cross the wild and romantic Gastein Valley. Passing through Dorfgastein and Bad Hofgastein, you pedal up to the renowned spa and winter sports resort of Bad Gastein, at the foot of the High Tauern, which offers a wide variety of natural history and architectural monuments. You will reach Böckstein, where a train will take you to Mallnitz, on the other side of the Alps, in just 10 minutes (about € 5 per person). Back in the saddle, you will enjoy the descent to your hotel in the Mölltal.

Day 5: Mölltal – Spittal (30 km)
Biking along the Möll river you will cross an impressive mountain landscape. At Möllbrücke begins the Drautal and the sunny south of Austria. A pleasant cycle ride will lead you to Spittal an der Drau: in the Middle Ages this city was an important crossroad for pilgrims. Here you can visit the Renaissance Palace of Porcia, built in the 16th century in the style of Italian palaces, sometimes referred to as The most beautiful Renaissance building north of the Alps.

Day 6: Spittal – Villach (40 km)
Today's stage will take you slightly downhill along the Drau River. Plan a stop at Paternion, with numerous churches and palaces to see. A short distance away you reach Villach, with its beautiful old town, the charm of Carinthia, and welcoming pubs and restaurants.

Day 7: Villach
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure. Possibility to extend the stay.
