Description

Day 1:  Geneva
Welcome to Geneva. As a global center for diplomacy, numerous international organizations call Geneva home, including the United Nations and the Red Cross. A melting pot of diverse cultures awaits you, with about 184 different nationalities, you can easily find yourself at ease in this cosmopolitan climate. You can visit the Palais des Nations (the European headquarters of the United Nations), buy a real Swiss watch and, of course, enjoy a bite of the famous Swiss chocolate. Don’t forget to visit the lake, with its spectacular Jet d’Eau, one of the most famous monuments in the city. The fountain is located on Lake Geneva, at the point where the lake flows into the Rhone River.

Day 2: Geneva – Lausanne (71 km; + 510/-490m)
Take some chocolate for today's stage and get ready to start our bike tour of Switzerland. You will follow a scenic route, with the lake always in sight. Your destination is Lausanne, also known as the Olympic capital. Lausanne is a picturesque city, located on the shores of Lake Geneva, with the Jura mountains to the northwest: as the expanses of vineyards around suggest, the city is part of a renowned wine region, so feel free to enjoy a glass of wine, or two.

Day 3: Lausanne – Gruyères (62 km; + 810/-430m)
Today's destination is the country that gives the name to the famous cheese, Gruyères. Leave the lake behind as you make your way inland, climbing from Vevey, up the mountain for 500 meters over a 13 km stretch. It’s possible to skip this climb by taking a funicular. Reward yourselves with a hearty lunch in one of the town's cafés. You will be rewarded with picturesque views and medieval architecture; seize the opportunity to enter the Castle of Gruyères, a Swiss site of national importance.

Day 4: Gruyères – Gstaad (42 km; + 670/-410m or 66 km; + 960/-710m)
Climbing towards the Swiss Alps, you will enter the alpine village of Gstaad. Today you have two options: a shorter one and a longer one that goes through the Lake of Gruyères. This alpine village is a popular destination in high society and the numerous Swiss chalets testify to this. Walk around the town, do some shopping or take a moment of relaxation on the hills. There are many hiking trails with various difficulties, but the fresh mountain air and breathtaking views will never be lacking.

Day 5: Gstaad – Montreux (80 km; + 1210/-1890m)
Leaving the luxurious life behind, prepare for a challenging day of cycling. You will have the opportunity to take the train from Gstaad to Montreux (about 1h30) and take a tour of the small town. Montreux is a picturesque city, which boasts one of the most beautiful walks along the lake. The Chillon Castle is also worth a visit: this castle offers a wonderful view over all of Lake Geneva and is easily accessible by bus, train, bike, on foot or even by boat. Spend the last night of the tour, enjoying the view of the lake and a delicious glass of Swiss wine.

Day 6: Montreux
After breakfast, end of the services. Stock up on Swiss chocolate to bring home as a gift (or for you!) before making your way back.
