Day 1: Palermo
Individual arrival in Palermo and hotel accommodation. In the afternoon, after testing the assigned bikes, welcome cocktail and introductory briefing with the guide who will detail the stages of the tour. Palermo is a vibrant place full of history, culture, and cuisine. With its historical monuments, lively streets, and breathtaking beaches, Palermo is a city that can move you. Discover the hidden treasures of the city, savor the local cuisine, and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of this Mediterranean city. Group dinner in a selected restaurant.
Day 2: Palermo – Segesta – Scopello – San Vito lo Capo (25 km)
After breakfast, departure by minivan towards the Archaeological Area of Segesta and free visit of the site. Pick-up of the rented bikes (tested the previous day), start of the ride in slight descent towards Castellammare del Golfo. From here, after a slight uphill climb that will take us to a nice viewpoint, we'll head towards the ancient and evocative village of Scopello, where we'll arrange to buy what we need for a packed lunch. Then, after a short break to admire the Tonnara di Scopello with its faraglioni, we'll enter the Zingaro Reserve where, leaving our bikes, a nature hike awaits us inside the reserve on a route of about 7 km, with stops and possible swimming. At the end of the hike we'll continue by bike first towards the Tonnara di San Vito lo Capo, featured in numerous episodes of the TV series Il Commissario Montalbano, and then to the beautiful shell beach of the same town, known for the Couscous Fest. Arrival at the hotel and free time available. Dinner in a selected restaurant.
Day 3: San Vito lo Capo – Erice – Trapani (66 km)
After breakfast, bike departure for the seaside resort of Cornino, adjacent to the Monte Cofano Nature Reserve. From here we can choose whether to take a hiking trail, relax on the beach, or visit the evocative Mangiapane Cave, dating back to the Paleolithic and famous for the annual organization of a Nativity scene considered the largest event promoting Sicilian popular crafts and traditions. We then resume cycling along a picturesque coastal road, mostly traffic-free, first reaching the location of Tonnara di Bonagia and then the Trapani Cable Car station. We'll take this, bikes in tow, to ascend to the medieval village of Erice, located on top of Mount San Giuliano. From this high position, we'll enjoy the spectacular views of Trapani, the Egadi Islands, and the salt pans. Once in Erice, we can freely visit the historic center, with its medieval streets and suggestive views and taste the famous belli e brutti or tette di monaca, typical almond pastries. After visiting the village, we take the bikes to tackle an easy downhill route giving us beautiful views of the Egadi archipelago. Arrival at the hotel in Trapani and dinner in a selected restaurant.
Day 4: Trapani – Favignana – Trapani (15 km)
After breakfast, we cycle towards the fishing port of Trapani and make a short visit to the fish market. At Trapani's port, we take the ferry to the island of Favignana where we do an exploratory tour of the island by bike, stopping at the most charming beaches and coves. Then, we visit the Tuna Museum of Favignana, world-famous for its evocative images of fishing from other times. Free time for relaxation and individual activities. For lunch, we can choose from the many typical trattorias offering excellent local seafood. In the afternoon, the ferry takes us back to Trapani and after a bike tour of the historic center, we arrive at our hotel. Free evening. Dinner in a selected restaurant.
Day 5: Trapani – Marsala (42 km)
After breakfast, departure by bike for the Trapani and Paceco Salt Pans Nature Reserve, where we can observe the splendid colors of the surrounding landscape, characterized by mountains of salt, sea and Mediterranean vegetation, as well as the mills once used for the salt processing. If we're lucky, we will surely come across some species of Mediterranean migratory birds present in the reserve's ponds. We then continue along the Trapani coast, accompanied by splendid views of the Egadi Islands, until we reach the pier for the island of Motya. Today's stage ends in the city of Marsala, famous for Garibaldi's landing and for the production of the homonymous fortified wine. Visit to a historic winery and lunch tasting based on local products. After lunch, we go to discover the historic center of Marsala and those who wish will have the opportunity to visit the Baglio Anselmi Museum, which houses an artifact of a Punic ship. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Marsala.
Day 6: Marsala – Mazara del Vallo (38 km)
After breakfast, we start pedaling along the coastal road and some secondary roads through vineyards and olive groves towards Mazara del Vallo, famous for its ability to integrate Arab and Sicilian communities around fishing activities; its fishing fleet represents the third marine in Europe. Tour through the alleys of the Mazarese city center and stop in front of the Agostino Pepoli museum to admire the Dancing Satyr, a masterpiece of Greek art. We then resume cycling to reach Mazara del Vallo, where we'll stay overnight, and after settling our luggage in the hotel, we have free time to explore the city center or relax on the beautiful beaches.
Day 7: Mazara del Vallo – Selinunte (40 km)
Today, following a beautiful coastal road, we aim towards Capo Granitola, a wild and windy seaside resort, a meeting place for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts, where we'll stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we reach by bike the Quarries of Cusa, an enchanted place where time seems to have stopped, where in ancient times the Greeks worked the stones used to build their temples. Then by bike, we reach the Archaeological Area of Selinunte (optional visit), rich in ancient treasures, where we can admire the remains of ancient temples and various testimonies of the presence of an important Greek colony dating back to the 7th century BC, and then end the day relaxing on the wild beaches of the Belice River and Selinunte Reserve. Arrival at the hotel in Selinunte, check-in, and group dinner.
Day 8: Selinunte - Palermo
After breakfast, a transfer, by bus or minivan, will take you to Palermo. End of services.
