Description

Day 1: Vila Real de Santo António
Individual arrival at Faro airport and private transfer to Vila Real de Santo António, a quaint town with an old-world charm. This easternmost town on the Portuguese coastline borders Spain. The historic center offers a relaxed atmosphere, but there's plenty to see and do: it's ideal for a pleasant stroll to experience the local culture. Bikes will be delivered to your hotel if rented.

Day 2: Vila Real de Santo António – Tavira (19 miles; +702 ft)
Today's route will take you through a variety of landscapes: from the countryside, passing through ancient fishing villages including Monte Gordo, Cacela Velha, and Cabanas. Your ultimate destination for the day is the charming Tavira, whose charm instantly captivates visitors. It is a city dating back to Roman times, where there is a lovely local market of handicrafts and a castle worth visiting.

Day 3: Tavira – Olhão (19 miles; +597 ft)
Today's bike route will take you through pristine countryside skirting the coastline and other charming fishing villages. You'll eventually arrive in Olhão, renowned for its Moorish-style architecture and your final destination for the day. The old Marina, fish markets, and numerous restaurants serving traditional Portuguese cuisine, as well as seafood, are located on the waterfront, a few minutes' walk from your hotel. If you have the time, take the ferry from Olhão to the islands of Culatra and Armona, whose quiet and silent white beaches contrast with the noise of the markets and coastal towns.

Day 4: Olhão – Vilamoura (25 miles; +886 ft)
The third day of cycling along the Ecovia do Litoral will take you through the District of Faro and then beyond prestigious golf resorts on the Quarteira seafront, whose beach is considered one of the most beautiful in central Algarve. The final stop of the day is Vilamoura, an important golf center and an elegant resort famous for its marina, dotted with luxury yachts. The city offers a wide range of cozy cafes, bars, and restaurants for your evening.

Day 5: Vilamoura – Praia da Rocha (34 miles; +1620 ft)
This day offers another interesting bike ride through Albufeira and the hinterland. Albufeira is the main holiday destination in the Algarve, thanks mainly to the long golden sandy beach framed by cliffs. You'll then pass through the ancient town of Lagoa, where, among white houses with chimneys decorated with the region's typical motifs, you can still breathe an atmosphere of the past. The journey continues to Portimão, a relaxed tourist destination, until you reach Praia da Rocha, where your sea-front hotel is located. Discovered by the English in the 1930s, Praia da Rocha became a source of inspiration for intellectuals and writers. The beach is still the main attraction, even if the small village has been adapted to the development of mass tourism.

Day 6: Praia da Rocha – Praia da Luz (24 miles; +1158 ft)
The bike journey continues to Alvor, overlooking the marshes of the Ria de Alvor Nature Reserve, and Lagos, a historic city with a long stretch of beach and an attractive center full of cobblestone streets and interesting shops. You can stop here for lunch and then continue to Praia da Luz, a serene and charming town enlivened by restaurants, craft stalls, and artists exhibiting their works.

Day 7: Praia da Luz – Cabo de São Vicente – Loulé (24 miles; +1870 ft)
The final bike ride will take you through spectacular landscapes to the westernmost point of Europe, Cabo de São Vicente. Don't miss the chance to visit nearby Sagres, a truly unique town, with its ancient fort in the heart of the market square. In the afternoon, we'll pick you up for a transfer to Loulé, an ancient city with a tranquil atmosphere. Don't forget to visit the imposing castle and the covered market full of traditional stalls, perfect for end-of-trip shopping.

Day 8: Loulé
After breakfast, transfer to Faro airport and the end of our services.
