Description

Day 1: Mesola/Pomposa/Volano
Arrival at the Locanda del Bosco at 6.00 pm, meeting with a member of the staff and delivery of bicycles, information on the itinerary along the Po Delta. Dinner and overnight at the hotel/farmhouse.

Day 2: Mesola/Pomposa/Volano – Taglio di Po (45 Km)
Breakfast at the hotel and departure. Going along roads with low traffic density you reach Torre Abate, an ancient lock on which the Great Estense Reclamation was based, continue on the Destra Po, the cycle path that runs along the Po di Goro up to Goro where you can stop to take a look at the Porto and then continue towards Gorino (possibility to have lunch in a typical restaurant with fish specialties). Upon reservation, it is possible to make an excursion by boat or motor ship to the mouth of the Po di Goro (minimum 4 people). Go back to the pontoon bridge to go to Gorino Veneto and then to Gorino Sullam. This section of the itinerary runs on the young lands of the Po Delta, in fact the whole part east of Ca’ Vendramin is formed only after the Taglio di Porto Viro made by the Serenissima, in the early 1600s. of the Po di Gnocca and the Po di Goro until it crosses, near Ca’ Vendramin, the Po di Venezia, the main branch, on which the Republic of Venice intervened between 1600 and 1604, deviating its course to avoid the burial of the Venetian Lagoon. From the top of the embankment dominate, on one side the countryside cultivated with corn, soy and rice, on the other the river that, majestically, meets the sea. Arrival in the afternoon at the farmhouse, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Taglio di Po – Mesola/Pomposa/Volano (45 Km)
After breakfast we set off again on the bike. This is the itinerary that tells the story of the Po Delta: once you get on the bank of the Po in Venice you go upstream. Along the way you will meet, in succession, some villas of the Venetian nobility, Corbola and Santa Maria in Punta, the place where the current Po Delta begins. In fact, here the first branch comes off: the Po di Goro which marks the border between Veneto and Emilia Romagna. Following its course you arrive at Ariano nel Polesine, a pretty center with its characteristic Estense-style square, and the bridge that will take you to the opposite bank. Pedaling on the Destra Po, after a few kilometers you arrive in Mesola, where the Mesola Castle dominates with its imposing size: the last Delizia of the Este family (possibility to visit the Museo del Cervo). Continue to the Bosco della Fasanara, Torre Abate, until you reach the Boscone della Mesola. Here you can take a short ride inside the forest, an ancient hunting reserve of the Dukes of Este. Paid access. Near the wood it is possible to make a short stop for a snack, or enjoy a menu based on meat or fish. Dinner and overnight at the hotel / farmhouse.

Day 4: Volano
End of services after breakfast.
