Description

Day 1: Arrival in Alba
Individual arrival in Alba. After hotel check-in, take a walk in the beautiful historic centre of Alba, also known as The City of the Hundred Towers and capital of the hilly region of Langhe, famous for truffle, hazelnuts, peaches and excellent wines.

Day 2: Alba to Benevello via Barolo (48 km; +900/-600 mt.)
Your Piedmont cycling tour through Barolo hills starts in the famous Langhe region, where you will cycle immersed in the colors of a delightful countryside. This is the region of great Barolo wine and you will pass by countless wineries where you may stop for a tasting. Or you can visit the Barolo Regional Enoteca, where you will find over 30 types of wine to taste. The WiMu (Wine Museum) is another highlight of the region (highly recommended), located inside the castle of Barolo. Last climb will take you to the Agriturismo that will host you for the next two nights.

Day 3: Benevello loop ride (31 km; +/-600/1500 mt.)
Today you can choose between two options: take a cycle path and ride to the north exploring the hills surrounding Cassano Belbo, or opt for a longer, but extremely scenic ride, that will take you to the Langhe’s highest village: Mombarcaro, almost 1000 above sea level, where in clear spring day the view can sweep up to the coast. Alternatively, you can decide to visit a winery or relax at the Agriturismo.

Day 4: Benevello to Acqui Terme (50 km; +800/-700 mt.)
Today’s bike route will take you from Benevello to Aqui Terme. Enjoy this relaxing ride along Bormida river, visit the ancient villages of Cessole and Bubbio and cross the wonderful bridge of Bormida Monastery.

Day 5: Acqui Terme loop (34 km; +/-850/700 mt.)
Today you can choose between two itineraries: one to the north and the other to the south. The first covers in part the same route of tomorrow’s stage and takes to the amazing wine villages of Fontanile, Alice Bel Colle and Strevi. Have lunch in one of the Trattorias. The southern ride, more demanding, leads you to Ponzone, a panoramic village where it is worth stopping at a bar to taste some local delicacies sipping a good Italian coffee.

Day 6: Acqui Terme to Asti (53 km; +850/-900 mt.)
Today you will cycle to Asti, famous for its sparkling wines. Heading north you will cycle among gentle panoramic hills covered with vineyards. The largest city you will come across is Nizza Monferrato. Take a stroll among its beautiful alleys.

Day 7: Asti to Alba (38 km; +600/-700 mt.)
From Asti to Alba you will initially follow the Via Francigena cycle path, then you will pass across various villages and three ancient castles, which dominate the surroundings. These are the castles of Govone, Guarene and Magliano Alfieri. The castle of Govone is a Unesco Site, like the Venaria Reale in Turin, residence of the Savoy family, ancient kings of Italy.

Day 8: Arrivederci Alba!
After breakfast end of the tour.
