Description

Day 1: Sesimbra
Individual arrival in Sesimbra, a picturesque fishing village located in the heart of the Arrábida Natural Park.
At 6:00 pm, initial briefing about your tour. Free dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Sesimbra – Setúbal (40 km; +/-780 m)
The morning starts with a visit to the quaint fish market of Sesimbra, followed by climbing to the castle overlooking the harbor, dating back to the 12th century. The lush nature of the Arrabida Natural Park will accompany you for the rest of the morning. The itinerary then proceeds between the sea and the mountain, up to Setúbal, the final destination of the day, a lively town with a very active harbor.

Day 3: Setúbal – Carvalhal (35 km; +/-440 m)
The morning opens with a visit to the astonishing historic center of Setúbal, followed by the crossing of the Sado river by ferry, home to a group of dolphins. You will then proceed through the peninsula of Troia, surrounded by sand dunes of what was once an island. In the afternoon, while crossing the rice fields, wild herons and storks will keep you company.
Overnight stay within the natural reserve of the Estuary of Sado.

Day 4: Santo André – Santiago do Cacém (36 km; +/-450 m)
After a short warm-up, you will explore some typical ecosystems of the freshwater lagoon, wildlife paradise of the Santo André Nature Reserve and the Sancha lagoons. The final destination of the day is Santiago, an interesting town with some beautiful old noble palaces and a castle that offers a splendid view. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 5: Santiago do Cacém – Porto Covo (35 km; +/-440 m)
Of course, you cannot leave Santiago without first discovering its rich past, populated by knights and respective damsels to be saved; the climb to the castle is worth the effort to enjoy the wonderful view of past and present. You will bid farewell to the city by visiting the last working windmill in the area, before heading towards the coast, which you will reach after passing through a lush oak forest. The last few kilometers on the bike will take you to the enchanting fishing village of Porto Covo, where your hotel is located, just 5 minutes from the small bays where you can take a dip in the sea. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6: Porto Covo – Vila Nova de Milfontes (24 km; +/-350 m)
The first stop of the day will be at a fortification that in the past served to protect the natural harbor against pirate attacks. In the background, the Pessegueiro Island is ready to be photographed. You can then choose whether to spend the afternoon on the beach or wandering through the streets and shops of Vila Nova de Mil Fontes. Overnight stay at the romantic Zambujeiro farm-hotel with pool, located on the river bank.

Day 7: Vila Nova de Milfontes (60 km; +/-515 m)
On this last day by bike, you won’t need to pack up; simply set your camera to landscape mode and start on the white roads of Alentejo, frequented almost only by locals. If you prefer, you can choose the asphalt route, but think about it, because you will miss the marvelous stretch on the colorful cliffs that overlook the Ocean where storks have their nests. On the way back to Vila Nova de Milfontes, you can take a break on the immense and famous Almograve beach to drink something fresh or to have the last, well-earned swim in the sea. You will spend the night immersed in the genuine atmosphere of the farmhouse with a swimming pool in which you will stay.

Day 8: Vila Nova de Milfontes
After breakfast, end of services and individual departure. Possibility to book a private transfer.
