Description

1st day: Amsterdam
Individual arrival in Amsterdam, embarkation starting from 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm. Free time to visit the city, do some shopping, visit a museum or enjoy a tour through the city's canals: an excellent way to see the city from a privileged perspective. First night on board in Amsterdam, the first and last stop of the bike and boat tour in the Netherlands on the South Route. You can leave your luggage on board from 11.00 am onwards.

2nd day: Amsterdam – Breukelen by boat l Breukelen – Utrecht l Utrecht – Rotterdam by boat (25 or 40 km)
The first bike tour of the South Route starts in Breukelen. You will move along the beautiful Vecht river and admire its charming surroundings filled with imposing castles, country houses, and grand tea rooms. You will follow the river to the center of Utrecht, where you will have the opportunity to explore the wonderful historic center: the cathedral, its tower, the canals, typical shops and cafes. In the afternoon, you will continue by boat from Utrecht to Rotterdam.

3rd day: Rotterdam – Schiedam – Delft – Rotterdam (28 or 50 km)
Today, the South Route takes you through the so-called Jenver City of Schiedam and via Delfland to Delft, famous for its blue ceramics. Visit the beautiful center with its small colorful canals and streets, bridges, and alleys. For many of our guests, it is an unforgettable opportunity to visit the Delftware factory. Afterward, you will return to Rotterdam, where you can enjoy a peaceful evening stroll in the city.

4th day: Rotterdam – Alblasserdam with the waterbus | Kinderdijk – (Gouda) – Schoonhoven (30 or 58 km)
The morning begins with a transfer by waterbus, a fast ferry that will take you and your bikes in 10 minutes to Alblasserdam from where, in a few minutes by bike, you will reach Kinderdijk and its famous 19 windmills, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can then choose between a longer bike ride to visit a cheese factory in Gouda or a shorter one through Alblasserwaard, an ancient waard (lowland surrounded by rivers) bounded by dikes and transformed into polder. Both tours end in Schoonhoven, the silver city on the Lek river where you can visit a typical silversmith's workshop.

5th day: Schoonhoven – Oudewater – Utrecht (45 km) l Utrecht – Haarlem by boat
Today's stage of the South Route involves a bike ride in the beautiful polder area, the green heart of the Netherlands through small villages and small streets, in the direction of Utrecht. Along the way, you can visit the house where women accused of witchcraft were tried in the early 16th century. By bike, you finally reach Utrecht and then in the late afternoon continue by boat towards Haarlem.

6th day: Haarlem circular tour North Sea coast – Haarlem (40 or 50 km) l Haarlem – Zaandam by boat
Today you can choose between two options: both excursions will take you through the dunes of the magnificent Kennermer, a national park where numerous species of birds, Highland Scottish cows, and Shetland ponies live and can be seen. After visiting the coastal towns of Bloemendaal and Zandvoort, you can cycle through the forest and to the center of Haarlem and then get back on board. The longer tour includes the largest steam machine in the world, the Cruquinum pumping station, and then brings you back to Haarlem. From here, your ship will sail to Zaandam during dinner.

7th day: Zaandam – Amsterdam (30 or 45 km)
The last day of cycling on the South Route is dedicated to Dutch tradition: your destination will indeed be the Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum with wooden houses, windmills, cheese factories, and clog manufactures, wooden clogs. Crossing the Twiske park, you will arrive in Amsterdam where you can spend the afternoon doing the activities you prefer, even the ones you didn't have time to do on the first day.

8th day: Amsterdam
After breakfast, end of services. Disembarkation at 9.30 am.
