Description

Day 1: Torroella de Montgrí
Individual arrival in Torroella de Montgrí and check-in at the hotel, located within the Natural Park of the Medes Islands and the Montgrí Massif. If you're interested in getting to know the region better, don't miss the Mediterranean Museum.

Day 2: Torroella de Montgrí – Castelló d’Empúries (25 km; +162 m)
After delivery and adjustment of the bicycles (if rented), you can start your first tour. You will pedal around the Montgrí Massif and after passing through the medieval village of Bellcaire d’Empordà, you will return to the coast and the charming fishing village of L’Escala, famous for its delicious local anchovies. Following a beautiful bike path along the sea, you will pass through the medieval center of Sant Martí d’Empúries, where the dominant Gothic style blends with the architectural styles of the many and varied cultures that passed through here over the centuries.

Day 3: Castelló d’Empúries (47 km; +390 m)
In Castelló d’Empúries you will discover the important medieval settlement where you can visit the Jewish quarter and the magnificent Cathedral. From here we will head towards the wine region of Peralada to reach Figueres and the Dalí Museum, the most visited in Spain. After the visit, we will resume pedaling southwards and through Siruana, where it will be possible to visit an oil mill.

Day 4: Castelló d’Empúries – Madremanya (55 km; +600m)
Today's route will lead you inland and you will move from Alt Empordà to Baix Empordà. You will visit several rural villages, such as Sant Miquel de Fluvià, with its magnificent Romanesque monastery and tower, and Sant Mori, with its castle. You will then go through Verges, a medieval village that still preserves the remains of ancient walls, and Foixà, which offers a spectacular view of Baix Empordà plain. After crossing the medieval villages of La Pera and Púbol, you’ll arrive at Madremanya.

Day 5: Madremanya – Calella de Palafrugell (40 km; +253 m)
Today's route will take you through numerous medieval settlements, from the most inland areas of the region to the coast. Cruilles, with its large tower, will be the first village you come across. You will then cross La Bisbal d’Empordà, capital of the region, with its medieval castle and the Museum of Terracotta and Ceramics. The route continues towards Torrent, home to the unusual Jam Museum. Finally, after passing Palafrugell, you will reach the charming fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell.

Day 6: Calella de Palafrugell – Torroella de Montgrí (29 km; +180 m)
You will return to Torroella de Montgrí through the beautiful landscapes and historic sites of Empordanet. You can visit the magnificent medieval center of Pals, surrounded by rice fields. An alternative route will take you to the mouth of the Ter River and its long sandy beaches.

Day 7: Torroella de Montgrí (19 or 41 km)
Today, you can choose to spend the day relaxing on the beach or by the pool, or go out for a bike excursion along the Daro river passing through some charming little medieval villages like Fonolleres. You will also reach the important Iberian archaeological site of Ullastret, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the entire surrounding area. You'll return to Torroella passing through Palau-Sator and Peratalla, two of the most beautiful medieval villages in the area. An alternative route will take you along the coast and through the village of L’Estartit.

Day 8: Torroella de Montgrí
