Description

1° day: Arrival in Strasbourg
Individual arrival in Strasbourg and accommodation in the hotel with possibility of free sightseeing.

2° day: Strasbourg - Saverne, ca. 50 km
After breakfast, you will leave Strasbourg passing by the European Parliament. The cycle path takes you along the Marne-Rhine path to reach Saverne. Many towns and villages surround the cycle path, such as Brumath, the capital of Alsatia, and Hochfelden, famous for its brewery tradition. You will arrive in the picturesque town of Saverne with its impressive double lock. Pedal along the marina and enjoy a fantastic view at the Rohan Castle!

3° day: Saverne - Mittersheim by bus | Mittersheim - Saarbrücken, ca. 63 km
Today you will start with a bus transfer to Mittersheim. You will pedal along the Saar Canal and discover the beautiful woods and countryside landscapes of this area. Rom Sarreguemines, famous for its pottery, you will reach Germany. You will arrive in Saarbrücken, a border town with a French touch, a baroque urban landscape and numerous attractions and museums.

4° day: Saarbrücken - Merzig, ca. 48 km
You will follow the Saar cycling route that will take you to the “Völklinger Hütte“ (former iron factory), a place of cultural interest and World Heritage Site. On an area of over 600,000 m2, the gigantic foundry is the only fully-preserved steel industry from the golden period of industrialization in the world. Then you will pass in the city of the Sun King, Saarlouis, before arriving in Merzig where you will stay for two nights.

5° day: Tour in the Merziger Äppelkischd, ca. 36 km
Take a relaxing break in the small town of Merzig or pedal in the heart of the Merziger Äppelkischd region, which means “apple box”, so named because of the numerous local apple orchards. On the way, you will see numerous apple trees, vast wheat fields, rape fields and maize fields. You will discover many artworks carved in stones that invite cyclists to an extraordinary day cycling on the Franco-German border.

6° day: Merzig - Trier, ca. 64 km
After breakfast, you will cycle a few kilometers to reach the Saar Bow, which is a unique natural wonder. From there you will pedal up to Mettlach, where you can visit the famous Villeroy & Boch ceramics factory. Behind the baroque façade, you will be able to admire more than 260 years of ceramic and corporate history. The route then leads to Saarburg, a picturesque town where you can admire a 20-metre high waterfall. Continue through the vast vineyards along the Moselle river up to Trier. Take some time to visit the Porta Nigra, the amphitheater, the imperial baths or the magnificent cathedral.

7° day: Trier - Luxembourg, ca. 59 km
You will start this stage at the Roman Bridge of Trier and continue pedaling along the Moselle again before reaching the border. You will now cycle on small country roads, through small villages, through hilly landscapes with green woods and colored fields. You will then reach Luxembourg, a modern and cosmopolitan city where you can visit the Ducal Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the impressive casemates, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

8° day: Departure
After breakfast, end of services.
